It just shows when you have to small guards in your lineup your not going be to successful. Tonight Thompson was very just shooting over CJ. Even CJ had good guarding position at time but Thompson is to tall for CJ to guard. Yes Dame and CJ can score on anyone but on defense there's big liability with to small guards.
The season isn't OVER but maybe we need to correctly understand what the ceiling of this team is. Many people have been telling us that we've reached it a while ago? And with every blowout game, no matter where we are seeded in the West, that becomes painfully obvious.
I don't think we can ever reach our ceiling with Stotts as coach, and therefore, I don't think we know what it is.
Who are we talking then, Red Holzman, Red Auerbach, Pat Riley, Tony Robbins, Pep Guardiaola..... What silver tongued/motivational speaker/X and O's shitting genius is going to guarantee us X number of victories over the talent we currently have? Shit. How do we even get Stotts out when he and Dame are so buddy buddy? That's what I'd like to know.
I find it funny. The best thing about @KingSpeed is he's forgotten last year Portland also lost to GSW without Curry, Green, Mcgee. But it's different this year. The season is over this year and no reason to care. https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201712110GSW.html Then we have people claiming Portland sucks because they didn't beat NYK by 50. Well if Portland sucks for not beating them by 50. The the team which swept Portland in the playoffs are the generals for losing to the Knicks tonight.
Yeah. That has nothing to do with a bunch of talented players struggling to figure out their roles and mesh, or the fact that Kyrie, Tatum, and Brown was in a shooting slump or Gordon Hayward is still not 100%. None of those reasons are possible, right? Its automatically Brad Steven's fault? Yet its automatically not the head coaches fault on our case...?
During this time of giving thanks, I'd like to thank Kingspeed for letting me know when and when not to care about the team. Best in the west = care Season over = not care Got it
The seasons not over. The Blazers are basically what most people thought they were. One of the 8-10 teams fighting for a playoff spot that may or may not make it. They will be really good sometimes and insanely frustrating other times. Its kind of who they are.
Yes he shot good last but what always tell my players if they can see the rim they can score on you. My point Thompson can see the rim pretty damn good when backing down a 6'3 on turn around jump shot. Yes CJ try to contest it I give him credit for that but his size is the problem on defense.
Season over? We are winning the championship this year, I don't know what you guys are talking about.
Look, we are in year 4 of a 10 year rebuild. There are going to be ups and downs in terms of the vivacity of the team. Thing is we got the guys we wanted. Jake has made a tremendous leap. Meyers Leonard has been reborn and rechristned as the Hammer. Curry and Hark are both coming off of injuries. Good things are ahead.
Simple solution: C.J. needs to front him and make them throw it over the top where help side defense needs to be ready to deflect the pass or contest the shot. But of course, we don't try that, even though we've seen the same result for years...
Stevens is overrated. All that talent and a .500 record. Stotts has less talent and a 12-7 record in a deeper conference.
I respectfully disagree, Stephens is a really good coach. I think Hayward and Kyrie coming back has caused a lot of weirdness for that team. Hayward doesnt look even remotely close to what he was but he’s making a lot money so they kind of have to play him. Kyrie is better than Rozier on offense but plays 0 defense whatsoever. So they’re trying to figure out how to play with two guys that kind of hamper the things they did well in the playoffs last year.
