CJ's comments on his shot selection. Intentional ... Love it. Can't wait for him to trash those Warriors. Go Blazers. With Dame + Lillard, I'm a believer we are going to beat with ... with or without Durant.
I said it in the game thread and I'll repeat it here: I've never been a big fan of CJ and would have traded him for Paul George or Kawhi...still would; but you have to consider that Dame wants CJ as a teammate and the two of them have probably earned the right to try and take the team as far as it can go. It's up to management to give them the supporting cast they need, and it's up to that management not to allow major slippage because of the tax situation and the free agent circumstances
Holy shite! I had to DVR the game due to son's soccer game - just finished watching it. How the hell did we win that game after that 1st quarter??? Anyone that's bashed CJ should come in here and post an apology. And Evan Turner, this game alone has made your 3 year stay here worthwhile. So much balls all of these guys have. Collins growing up before our eyes! Amazing...
I'm not sure what you are saying, but we could see today how CJ's game complements Dame's game. One thing I admire about these guy is, after their disappointments the last 3-4 seasons, they actually kept working on their games. CJ can score in so many different ways ... It is ridiculous he is not an All star. And he displayed his full arsenal today. I have always love CJ's game. But I have questioned his shot selection and the ability of the coach to make him understand that he needs to take better shots. Which he did today. 9 rebounds, 29 shots ( 37 points ), only 3 3-pts shots. And only 2 free throws. That's an amazing performance. And even the shots he missed ... would fall on another day. I love this version of CJ. Unstoppable.
Not his first good game - and won't be his last. His next bad game won't be the first (or last) either. Sorry, but this thread is kinda silly.
I think PG or Kawhi are fair discussions (if those guys aren't rentals). You're talking first-team all-NBA talents. What grinds my gears is the guys that undervalue scoring and shot-creation. Or fans who talk about CJ for Middleton or some other above-average but otherwise not-special 3 man. Or the ones that paradoxically talk about how his trade value is going to bring us an upgrade while simultaneously busting on his D and his efficiency. The facts are that shot creators aren't easy to find. Guys who are cool under pressure aren't easy to find. And guys who fit your team aren't easy to find. If you trade CJ, you need to be sure you are bringing a special player back. Not Kike Vandeweghe.
I say no, let's get carried away. I don't know about anyone else but I'm pretty damned happy and feel like getting carried away.
