http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2922597He is the best 3 point shooter in the NBA after all, but 6 million a year, wow. That makes us really damn deep.1: Ford/Calderon2: Parker/Kapono/Parker3: Garbajosa/Delfino/Parker/Kaponodamn.
I think this is a sign that Mo Pete is definitely gone and they aren't going to make an effort to resign him.

6 million a year?? Man.Well not a bad move by the Raps. Man we're gonna be a total 3 point shooting team.BargnaniGarbojosaParkerKoponoThat guy from Greece can also shoot the 3 right?all great 3 point shooters.I don't mind this deal.
Jesus Christ you grossly overpaid him. $6 million a year for Jason Kapono? I knew he'd get overpaid somewhat, but I thought it would be closer to $4 million, but not 6.
First it is not confirmed for sure its 24 mill a year, it can be less but with bonuses. For all we know it can be the agent just trying to look good..( trust me it happens )Second, I don't mind the signing at all, no team will want to double Bosh.

So I'm not concerned if we might have overpaid him.</div>We were under the cap and we did not use our full MLE in this deal so don't rule out the option of us landing a wing player who is good defensive player and rebounder. A chance Mo could be moved in a sign a trade but even if he is not basically we only used 1M off our cap if we just let Mo walk.
He scored 10.9 PPG off the bench last year thats very impressive. When in a Starting role for the Heat he would score around 17 or 17+ per game. Shot almost 50% from the field. And ofcourse wow wow wo 51% from three thats out of this world because he took a lot of them as well. People should know he also won the 3PT Contest this past season. Not a super athletic player but is a solid team defender not a good one on one defender. He is tall for a Small Forward so he will have no problem getting his shot off at 6'8. The more I read into this guy the more I like. He shot nearly 90% from the stripe. He doesn't turn the ball over a good ball handler. He can't play above the rim but can get to the rim for easy lay ups if you give him a step and he often will get a step because guys are running at him. He is a true team player has no problem sharing the basketball and won't jack up shots. His stats off the bench are out of this world. And they just get better as a Starter. If we can grab another good defensive and rebounding Forward to play behind him we are well improved over last year. But Parker and Kapono are going to shoot the lights out. Remember he had this huge season with one of the worse Point Guard combos in the league. He will be that much better with Ford and Calderon. At first I was like well he is not a great defender but basically I love everything else. He is a winner and gym rat I am pumped.

He is not a streaking shooter like Morris Peterson he is one of the best if not the best shooters in the NBA. And if Mo Pete deserves 5M why can't Kapono make 6M. If I were you I would worry less about the Raptors are doing and more what the Celtics are doing. Ray Allen and Paul Pierce on the same team wow thats going to be mess. Sure it looks good on paper but do you really think either one want to take less shots. These guys are not exactly team players lol.
6mill a year is quiet a bit for Kapano, but you are seeing a direct result of Colangelo turning this team somewhat into a Suns style. Bosh is a pretty nice passer for his position and with Ford(a excellent playmaker) Kapono should be more effective than ever before. He will work good in the Raptors system.
so that means graham peterson and dixon will be gone?here are all the wing players we're gonna havegarbajosa, parker, delfino, kapono, MAYBE PETERSON/GRAHAM,and that euro guy from the draft for 08/09I also think we are GOING to overpay, I really wanted to get gerald wallace, with this looks like thats not happening

Makes it better when you make that last year a valuable expiring...plus only using like 4 mill now. Just a thought?
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CelticBalla32 @ Jul 1 2007, 06:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I don't care what Toronto's financial situation is, they definitely gave Kapono double what he should be getting.</div>Kapono deserves atleast 4 million...Last year he led the league in 3pt%, so he is a major weapon from long range. He averaged 10 ppg, but I think he could improve on that...
Averaging 10ppg is great for a player who comes off the bench. Didn't Bargnani average around that? He had some awesome games and really helped us alot when we needed it.
kapono got around 26 minutes a game last season, pretty much the same as bargnani I think...and kapono got less touches than bargnani for sure, I think he only got 3 point plays, but alot of his 3 point attempts came as spot-up shots so I guess hes pretty good, but I still dont understand why we are giving him 24 mil
