Seems the Spurs are content with keeping the roster intact.http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketb...rs.35ae932.htmlVaughn remains a SpurWeb Posted: 07/02/2007 11:05 PM CDTJohnny LuddenExpress-NewsThe Spurs have reached agreement with Jacque Vaughn on a two-year contract that will pay him about $2.5 million, an NBA source said Monday.Vaughn's agreement, which pays him the minimum salary for players with at least 10 seasons of experience, means the Spurs have commitments from two of their free agents. Fabricio Oberto plans to sign a three-year deal once the league's free-agent moratorium ends on July 11.The Spurs also are continuing negotiations with forward Matt Bonner.Vaughn, 32, joined the Spurs last season and became the team's most dependable reserve point guard since Speedy Claxton left after the 2003 championship.Though Vaughn began the season alternating games on the inactive list with Eric Williams, he eventually replaced Beno Udrih as Tony Parker's backup. In 64 games, Vaughn averaged 3.0 points, 2.0 assists and 11.9 minutes.jludden@express-news.net

I hope that we do keep Matt Bonner but only if he gets playing time. During the regular season Matt was playing great until he tore his MCL. After that he basically sat on the bench for the rest of the year. If Matt wont get playing time here then I would want him to go to another team that would use him.

I'm glad vaughn is staying, he's a reliable second stringer and if we can get rid of beno for a young pg to back up parker then vaughn would be a great third stringerI don't like oberto getting 3 years, I hate old people lol, especially when it's only gonna be his 3 year in the league next year, aww well, I guess I better pray we don't play the mavs in the playoffsI hope bonner is back next year, he slower then sh*t, but he's fun to watch, mainly cause it's funny watching a tall white dude hustling........ plus with a year under his belt in the spurs system he should be better.........and he'll get a shitload of playing time in the regular season cause horry will be the roger clemens of basketball.........

If the Spurs can keep their roster within what it was last year, and they add a new role player or two, I could def. see them repeating.

Spurs will re-sign BonnerWeb Posted: 07/04/2007 12:07 AM CDTSan Antonio Express-NewsThree days into the NBA's free-agency period, the Spurs have accomplished their goal of keeping their roster virtually intact. The Spurs reached agreement Tuesday with forward Matt Bonner, the last of the three free agents they hoped to re-sign, on a three-year contract worth about $9 million."Matt always wanted to stay with the Spurs, so he's very excited to be coming back," said Kenny Grant, Bonner's agent. The Spurs also have reached agreements with center Fabricio Oberto (three years, $10.5 million) and Jacque Vaughn (two years, $2.5 million). Free agents can't sign contracts until July 11.The agreements mean the Spurs will have 14 of the 15 members from last season's team under contract. Free-agent forward Melvin Ely is expected to sign with another team.- Johnny Ludden http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketb...er.357440b.html

I'm glad Matt Bonner is coming back. I see him as a Robert Horry in-training. They have similar styles and hopefully he learns a lot from Robert next year.I imagine Matt will get more time during the regular season to keep Horry rested for his last playoff run. Before Matt got hurt this season he and Robert were alternating minutes -- especially on back-to-back nights. For the last spot I wish it would be someone like Matt Barnes, PJ Brown, James Posey or a solid backup PG. I'd rather they pass on Grant Hill.I would like Nocioni but don't think the Spurs could pull it off financially.I guess the team will soon be switching their attention to replacing Carlesimo.
