Top golfers who will compete in new Saudi-funded LIV Golf Invitational Series I've heard a couple rumors that the RBC Canadian open is going to be cancelled this weekend. Not sure if the exodus of some of the major players to the LIV Golf Series is contributing to that, but this is definitely bad news for the PGA. Will anyone be attending the event in North Plains?
This thing is cray. Colin Cowherd was talking about this yesterday. Said Tiger Woods was offered nearly a billion dollars to join and turned it down.
It won't be. The rumor was from a guy I'm playing fantasy golf with because he didn't want anyone to set their lineup.. -__- There are a lot of golfers that are leaving to play with LIV though. Still something to keep an eye on.
Oh yes, I agree it will be interesting to see how things play out with LIV. I would be interested in seeing the tournament at Pumpkin Ridge. I don't like the idea of getting in bed with the Saudi's though.
The relationship America has with Saudi Arabia is very... Idk what word I'm looking for... Hypocritical?
Saudi Arabia is starting their own worldwide golf league and paying big money to the top golfers to join it.
My Golf Channel insiders are calling the money they used to set this up is "Blood Money" This whole situation is going to get crazy,. I got asked to work a LIV event this past few weeks. I was booked and said no. Had no idea what this was all about until yesterday.
My GC friend said it's coming between players on the tour. Guys talking shit about each other in the media, calling them out. Gonna get nuts
Anyone turning their noses up at the LIV and the relationship with the Saudi Arabia government, while doing so on an NBA teams message board (the league that has sold it's soul to China) should really be careful lobbing around the hypocrite stones in those glass houses they've built.
How does the PGA overcome a competitor that has unlimited cash and doesn't care about ROI? Not to mention, the PGA doesn't run any of the majors, so unless all 4 majors fall in line, these "suspended" players will still be able to play in them (for now). Tough spot for the PGA.
I actually didn't realize that. Good point. I'm sure half the golfers on tour ask saying to themselves "fuck the PGA", in that case.
