Isn't this like the 3rd straight year we've opened up against the Kings? Or was it just last year? haha
I remember that we looked really bad in the past at Sacramento, mainly because our players were sloppy and had no motovation. So this will be a good test for the new group of "dogs"
SCOOP: The 2022 @NBA schedule will show NO Election Day games. Instead, all 30 teams will play the Monday before on a themed “civic engagement night,” to encourage fans, players and staff to vote in this year’s midterm elections
Which makes no sense given games will tip off as polls close - and in places like Oregon, in-person voting is no longer a thing.
The players have game day responsibilities that could make it hard for them to get to the polls. Portland isn’t the only city in the NBA so it does make sense.
Yeah, there are a lot of states that are going to only have election day voting, so the NBA is making a point of freeing up their day. Mostly by doing this though the NBA is telling all of its fans to go out and vote. I think it's far more about magnifying the importance of participating in democracy than the actual logistics of freeing up time for the majority of the people that the message is meant for.
Think I'm old enough to remember when EVERYTHING shut down on Election Day. Used to mean something. Now?...It really doesn't.
One big plus out of the NBA shutting down it that they could potentially use the arenas as polling places. For some areas, this makes a difference and believe they have done this before.
