Would it really be a bad thing for people to know somebody is a dangerous person? If it were a concern you could list the restriction on the back of the ID. But seriously, nobody is examining your ID except people who legitimately need to (like police, employers, or people who are selling alcohol or guns) or criminals.
Should we remove your right to free speech because your neighbor says stupid shit? Or to give us the right to silence Trump? Probably not.
I would give my life in defense of your right to free speech. I can't imagine a life worth living without such rights.
That has nothing to do with people who support gun rights and everything to do with assholes playing politics at the expense of the people they are supposed to be advocating for.

You have always lived in that world, unfortunately. Luckily Children are safer in America today than they have been in virtually all of human history virtually anywhere in the world. And as the number of guns in the US has increased, the violence toward kids (and violence in general) decreased for literal decades. So we know that the number of guns doesn't have much of an impact on the safety of children. We are better off focusing on other solutions. That is pretty clear. Like giving all students access to mental health professionals. All people should have access in general, but getting all kids access would be better than what we have now.
The gun nuts have been pushing the More guns will make us safe campaign for most of my lifetime. Look around.. They got caught up in the marketing campaign to kill fellow Americans for profit. It's always all about the money. Now they can't admit it was the dumbest possible thing we could've done. Kids are now going through their second school shooting. I'll say that again...Second school shooting!! But yes, these kids are safer than ever! Folks, we have had more mass shootings than days of the year in 2023. Just stop.
This is an emotional argument. It's understandable, but it's not logical. As I've shown many times, the US reduced violent crime and murder rates as much as countries who instituted sweeping gun control in the 90s. And even more than some. This, while the US let the assault weapons ban expire and nearly doubled the number of guns. I'm not saying we should add more guns. I'm simply saying that we should focus on more effective methods of prevention. Like increasing access to education, healthcare, and improving our social safety net and police and judicial systems. The gun debate just takes away from those because no gun control can have even a fraction of the impact any one of those goals would.
