There was a big thrift store where Walmart is now. I went to high-school all four years at Marshall right behind there. I grew up closer to Cleveland though.
I remember walking to the Eastport GI Joes in the late 70s to buy a tool that I didn't have - and needed- to get my truck running. I remember it was very cold that day. barfo
I think it was Eastport that had the Hyrdrotube slides in it if I remember correctly back in the 80's? Anyone else ever go to the water slides in that mall.
Gotta love all the theft forcing more and more retail to close. I spent lots of time at Eastport Plaza and the nearby Chuck E Cheese when I was a kid.
Pretty sure the water slides were in mall205 in the corner of the elbow? Thats where i remember going. I dont remember waterslides at Eastport.
Those waterslides were also by Washington Square. Eventually they tore them down, it turned into a Wunderland, then they tore that down and it became extra parking for the mall.

Walmart Set to Close All Stores in Portland amid Record-Breaking Retail Theft https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/com...n&cvid=5f2ba6f2c3df46889e2916eda243752d&ei=48
Portland doesn’t have the capability of doing something about the theft. So I guess you reap what you sow.
That is our local governments fault. We are in need of removing these same ole politicians from office that we have been voting for here in Oregon. They clearly haven't been doing our state a service. If we paid living wages, we might have a population that wasn't in need of stealing quite so much. In the land of plenty, Americans have become quite theft prone. I guess that is why they call it the "Land of the Free". Corporations are free to pay you non-living wages while we are all free to take some of that back, the old fashioned way... In the end. It seems to me that theft from a thieving corporation, can't really be considered theft. More like payback/karma.
I live in Vancouver but work in Portland. I’ve seen the stretch of Barbur Blvd I deliver in go from being okay to shit in just a couple years. It’s crazy.
Fuck Walmart! It's actually better that they're no longer in Portland. The Walton Family owns 2 NFL teams and every professional sports franchise in Colorado. Walmarts average starting pay is $11.05 and has the most employees on welfare than any company in the US. They've gutted thousands of small town main street small businesses through predatory pricing. Again, Fuck Walmart!
