No. But I generally agree with a lot of his takes. Except for a few weeks ago when he'd rant about Ben Simmons being included in a Dame trade
Key point is Herro can be on a good defense team. Ant is a primary reason why Portland's defense has been trash. Both are contributing to the respective team's results Not sure your argument holds as much value as you think it does
I think he’d be fine…. Or Jimmy would kill him. Herro got to play with Butler and Bam who are both exceptional defenders. I guess we will see because Dame is terrible on defense. We will see if his stats improve.
but this is why I wouldn't want Clowney and Whitehead and instead would prefer future first's I think people are really overestimating how many picks and assets Brooklyn would kick in as the 3rd wheel on this trade
Yeah I really don’t know. The questions that I have are this: How much is Herro worth to them? How much is it worth getting Simmons off their payroll? It’s really two separate transactions.
After some more in-depth research, this is what I would want from Miami: Jovic, Martin, 24/28/30 unprotected 1sts, unprotected 27/29 swaps for Dame and Nurk. Lowry for salary matching. From Brooklyn: Clowney, best of the 27 PHI/PHX/DAL 1st for Herro. ONeal and Dinwiddie needed for salary matching. Trade for Capela, Wright. ===== Ant(18)/Scoot(30)/Wright Sharpe(32)/Ant(16)/Thybulle Martin(30)/Thybulle(10)/Jovic(8) Grant(32)/Clowney(10)/Jovic(6) Capela(26)/Badji(12)/Clowney(10) With these available picks: 2024 POR 1st 2024 MIA 1st 2024 POR 1st 2025 POR 1st 2026 MIA 1st 2027 POR/MIA swap Best of 2027 PHI/PHX/DAL 1sts 2028 MIA 1st 2029 POR/MIA swap 2030 MIA 1st ===== This would be our team and assets PRIOR to an Ant trade. Next summer, we’ll have likely a pick around #5, the MIA late 1st, over $60m off the books.
I’d really hate to pick the SF over the PF/C. Clowney looks like he could be Claxton-ish on defense but also be a legit shooting threat. To me, Clowney looks like Jabari Smith without the potential to handle the ball. Whitehead isn’t a complete necessity right now, Clowney would be.
I guess I’m just BPA about it. Whitehead dealt with injuries and a messy Duke program in his freshman year. #2 prospect coming out of high school with 3/D and leadership upside. Hear what you’re saying though.
Yeah Portland should try to get the 2024, and try to get Caleb Martin, but if the Blazers can get everything else in negotiations and not these items I'm probably still pulling the trigger. I just tried to hypothetically list the max assets Miami can send and it's actually a pretty nice return. Especially if Herro can get a good pick or two.
As in my previous post I agree getting the 2024 pick isn't critical, it's probably the least valuable of the 7 picks/swaps I listed. But it does have some value so that's why I listed it. OKC would get something of value, the 2026 pick unprotected is more valuable than the 2025 protected pick they currently own.
I think if you were running an NBA team it'd have nothing but vet minimums and rookie scale players on the roster.
That's something tha Blazers should worry about at the 2026 deadline. We're a long ways from having too many stars or proven role players deserving huge contracts. We don't need a solution to a non existent "problem".
Ant is not responsible for Portland's defensive issues. Defense was trash before he was a starter, was trash when he missed games, was trash when he was on the bunch. I wish it were that simple.
Herro also meaured with a negatve wingspan. (6'3" compared to Ant's 6'7") I would not want either one of them guarding wings.
