Yeah, I just don't understand why Boston would be interested unless it was a severe overpay from from the Blazers in which they could immediately reroute the multiple Blazer assets that they would have received. I understand it would have gotten them out of the brown supermax pickle, but it also would have been a major timeline reset right during the middle of their championship window. It just doesn't track.

It does track if it fits your misty eyed narrative.

Would have made sense from their end if Brown either demanded the deal saying he would leave in a year in free agency - or they just wanted #3 and Ant more than overpaying Brown. Danny Ainge probably does that type of trade for Boston as he always wanted assets.

I certainly think Boston would be interested and consider it because Scoot is such a generational prospect. But ultimately it did make more sense for them to run it back and win now since they are legit contenders. So I could certainly see them demanding more from the Blazers which then wouldn't make sense from the Blazers end.

Very possible with Blazers luxury tax concerns and concerns of Brown resigning they never were interested in it either, which certainly could piss off Dame.

If I was Dame and I wasn't the one pulling the strings on this type of bullshit, if I ended up in Miami the first time I did an interview with someone, let's just say Le Batard, I would say something to the effect that I'm happy to be here but the media and fans around here are wild and they put a lot of stuff out there about me that just wasn't the case. If Dame doesn't say something like that it's kind of easy to assume that he was at least complicit in it.

oh for chrissakes...check the link....it's Barry Jackson again

flassportsbuzz = Barry Jackson, aka, Riley-Sock-Puppet

That's why I said "if true"

I guess I could see them offering Lowry, Duncan Robinson, Jovic, Jaquez and the FRPs in 2028 and 2030. I've heard and read from multiple media outlets in Miami that the Heat should try to get this done without giving up Herro.

Again if I'm Joe I tell them that I'm done with them when it comes to Dame because those are not good faith offers.

If the Blazers can be accused of "lying" to Dame, then the Heat can sure as hell be accused of not making offers in good faith.

Yeah as things have cooled I think it's crazy to say that the team lied to Dame or that Dame lied to us. Am I sure that Joe told Dame that the plan was to use the pick we got from tanking in a trade for proven talent to help Dame win now... of course I am because Joe said so. Plans changed. I'm also sure that Dame planned on spending his whole career here but when plans changed in our front office Dame's plans changed too.

The fact is that Dame gave an unrealistic demand that gave one of the most cutthroat guys in the history of the game a perceived upper hand and that guy (Pat Riley) has chosen to abuse this upper hand that is in actuality non existent. We don't care what our record is next season and the Heat have wasted this off season playing a game of chicken with us, subtracting from what they had last season and putting themselves in the position that if they don't make a trade to land Dame they will be worse than they were last season. Through inaction and the action of letting rotation players walk when combined with the fact that the Heat have designs on winning the championship next season and we don't, they've given us the upper hand.

It’s not that good. If I were to guess

Wow hard pass then - just trade Dame elsewhere or let him come back to PDX.

Thats probably worse then us offering 3/Ant for Embiid or Giannis. How can anyone consider that a legit offer?

Only scenario I can think of is Heat are planning to give us their real offer as a take it or leave it eve of training camp and trying to spin that as better value by offering so much shit for the months prior.

Hold firm Joe and don't fall for it!

I thought @hoopsjock was reporting that on draft night. Correct me if I'm wrong @BonesJones or hoopsjock. If this is a separate source that would be pretty interesting.

Honestly I think that Joe and Mike's grade on Scoot was just too high for us to reasonably get Dame established help. I don't think Joe is currently trying to engineer a plan to keep Dame and I think Dame will be on another team soon enough. I think it was a very calculated decision from Joe and the only calculation that Cronin didn't account for was the idea that Dame would only put one team on his list and that Goodwin would spread all of that shit about Dame being disgruntled or not reporting anywhere but Miami.
It was well before draft night that it was reported, and it was by Eric. The guy on Twitter could be repeating that reporting. As far as Eric, he legitimately heard that. I know people will pretend like they know exactly who Eric does and doesn't talk to, but he vets stuff, Dame and Jerami are close with JB (all three of them played on that Olympic team), Boston might've preferred Scoot+Simons over paying Brown a supermax, and Brown was rumored to be unhappy in Boston and could've leveraged the final year of his contract. I fully believe that was an option that Portland didn't explore because they wanted to go the young (and cheap) route and move on from Dame, and that explains Dame's recent comments about not wanting the same thing.
