Big 3rd period effort and got the win playing essentially one period. No D tonight, but not going to get upset over it at all considering the situation. Showed a lot of heart battling back to get the win. Put themselves in a great spot to be the top seed in the East now with the Panthers and Canes both losing in regulation. 3 up on the Canes in the division, with a game in hand, and we currently hold the TB. 1 up on the Bruins in the East, with a game in hand, and we currently hold the TB. 3 up on the Panthers in the East, even in games, and we currently hold the TB (ROW's since we are tied in RW's). Overall, a great night for us, great battle back especially given the circumstances. With the way the Caps are playing, we may be looking at Flyers or Wings in the 1st round if we hold onto 1st in the East (Canes would play the Caps). Flyers 3 up on the Wings, Wings have a game in hand, Flyers currently own the TB. Edit to add - really bad L by the Leafs at home against the Devs, now only 4 up on TB, who could pass them if they play well down the stretch, two games left against each other. The Leafs would then be the top WC. And first team to 100 points, nice achievement.
As we’ve said going to Colorado is tough but the last nine games are against teams towards the bottom. The division, conference and frankly first overall is theirs to lose.
One thing I will add about the Flyers/Caps/Wings battle for 3rd in the Met, and the 2nd WC, is the Flyers have by far the easiest remaining schedule (their toughest game is at us again). Caps have the clearly toughest remaining schedule of the 3, also play at the Flyers and at the Wings. So, it is still very much open for 3rd in the Met and the 2nd WC. Gun to my head I may go Flyers 3rd, we play the Caps as the 2nd WC, but it will be close. We'll see.
Another win for the good guys who bailed Igor out for a change of pace. It would be nice to see Lav cut the minutes down on the top lines and dmen with the playoffs approaching.
