In the playoffs 8 of 9 years. Biggest misstep was the 2017 draft, followed by the 2016 free agency. But we at least were relevant and had some sort of consistency in the plan, regardless how flawed it was.
The more people argue about this, the more it shows people don't have the coping skills to deal with an actual rebuild. What exactly did Neil's work here get the team? No titles, one embarrassing trip to the conference finals, and an empty cupboard and a massively flawed roster, no g-league team ever and riding the coattails of a superstar to the point where they had no other choice but to trade him (realistically). Joe isn't perfect, but had they stayed with Dame (and it's unlikely they would've been able to upgrade the roster outside of lucking into Wemby), the long term health of the franchise would be shit. All thanks to a soap opera star.
correct... * they have 21 win talent with current experience * they have 37 win talent with future experience science or science fiction?
good to know you already know what their talent is going to be. Can I have the lottery numbers for the next billion dollar Powerball?
This is where you and I have always disagreed. I don't think he did nothing. I think he failed to do what he said he would do. Does that mean he didn't try? No. But I guess it just depends on whether you believe that Joe sand bagged to get rid of Dame. And if that's the case, why? What was the ultimate motivation? Put his own stamp on the team?
I was going to give the winning numbers to you until you pointed your sarcasm at me. I'll have to find another buddy to make a billionaire...we're quits
I think Billups could have learned from Pops. Billups focused on trying to win games all the way through (although his attempts were mis-guided at times) and improving individuals' play (which I think he did a good job of).. Pops focused on building a team identity, teaching a system on defense and offense.. and ensuring that players played within that system. He did such a good job that by the end of the season the team started beating good opponents, even when he himself probably didn't care. Yes, of course he had Wemby, but even without Sochan, Vassel and Keldon Johnson, they kept playing at a high level.
Of course, this is somewhat understandable. Pops never has to worrry about job security and Billups does. Or maybe it's more about Billups having to prove something to himself.
Well you will have to wait until the next Billion Dollar jackpot available so you do have a little time.
I'm certainly prepared to gamble on us regretting firing Chauncey. I feel pretty safe making that bet.
my takeout our nobody players played better than our known players in most cases. players i had fairly high hopes for were either injured or struggled. players i knew and still know nothing about seem to have taken the opportunity and ran with it. we're still weak and unproven, but there is also some potential gems in the mix that we didnt expect. if we keep middling, i dont see any point in keeping ant etc, just move for picks and properly embrace the rebuild. i think keeping a guy like brogdon is a good plan, he seems like a good leader and older voice for the guys. having the 16th highest salary this season, n netting out like this is woeful. ayton - 32m grant 27m ant 24m our top 3 paid players lineup and inconsistent time on court as well. I'm glad we got to discover some other potential up n comers, but we need to shed the albatrosses around our neck. i watched approx 2 games overall. lots of highlight packages, but there werent many highlights in them. im also even less sure that billups is the guy for this team.
Last year, our GM said that we got "3 lottery-level picks" (Scoot, Murray, Rupert). Unsurprisingly, the 2 that weren't actually lottery picks, didn't play like they were.
Well..... just because a player is a lottery pick doesn't mean that they are going to contribute right away. Sometimes it's just about drafting a player who has the potential to be a star. Case in point: Giannis' rookie season
