I like the four characteristics that Ringer rates him high on. Would like to find those four in a bigger guy.

Castle’s a guard, but he has good size. Doesn’t hurt that he’s a winner too.

Those are actually very fair comparisons that I've thought about. Add Marvin Williams to the mix, too.

However, Williams was a bench warmer who was on a deep team and literally won the championship with his tip in. I think that bumped his stock up higher than it should've been. Either way, he still had solid stats as an Atlanta Hawk....14-15ppg/6rpg with defensive play (I remember people eventually hoping Martell could be what he was).

Aminu is another player who is lengthy. However, his problem from the get go was lack of shot creation and touch around the basket. He did okay in Portland but would not be relevant on a championship starting unit.

Then, the problem with Darius Miles wasn't lack of talent. He did have decent stats and looked good for Portland. It was clearly something else - attitude, mental awareness, later injuries. Also less than stellar FT% and 3pt%. Terrence Jones, another archetype here, was similar. Talented and while lacking a jumper, he still put up decent stats and showcased athleticism. Just didn't have a good attitude and the right mentality and certainly didn't have the all-around skills that Miles has. Then, injuries in his third season put him out for good.

But that's why I'm hedging everything on Cody Williams since he has every tool (jumpshot, 3pt%, FT%, solid handles, some point skills, length, solid defense, deceptive athleticism, slashing, off ball movement) and like his brother, doesn't seem to have a low character. He also fits into a very relevant archetype for Portland and the modern NBA - all-around versatile forwards, which is also very different than what Williams and Aminu were taught to play like - back to basket, 3nD, cut to the rim for alley oops and fastbreaks only.

At the least, he should be closer to Darius Miles (minus the behavior) or De'Andre Hunter (if you adjust for modern pacing, Miles overall stats in Portland are similar to current Hunter). At most, he should be an All-Star version of Jerami Grant which may be similar to current Brandon Ingram. As such, I think it'd be appropriate for Grant to mentor him.

I think I must have just fallen off of some turnip truck because this was news to me, but announced back in January:

NBA Draft 2024 presented by State Farm expands to 2 nights
The first round (June 26) and second round (June 27) of the NBA Draft 2024 will take place on 2 separate days.

    Official release

    January 31, 2024 11:13 AM
    [IMG]

NEW YORK – The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today that the NBA Draft 2024 presented by State Farm will expand to a two-night format that features the first round on Wednesday, June 26 and the second round on Thursday, June 27.

The first round will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., home of the Brooklyn Nets. The second round will take place at ESPN’s Seaport District Studios in New York.

ABC, ESPN and the ESPN App will each air the first round, and ESPN and the ESPN App will broadcast the second round. Coverage on both nights will begin at 8 p.m. ET. ESPN’s presentation of the second round will include a comprehensive review of the first round and in-depth storytelling about the draftees. ESPN Radio will also provide national coverage of the NBA Draft.

The first round will continue to have five minutes between draft picks. For the second round, the time between draft picks will increase to four minutes from two minutes.

“Based on feedback about the NBA Draft format from basketball executives around the league and my own experience in draft rooms, we believe that teams will benefit from being able to regroup between rounds and having additional time to make decisions during the second round,” said Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations. “Two nights of primetime coverage will also enhance the viewing experience for our fans and further showcase the draftees.”

Feel like the 2 seconds become a late first for a flier on a Ulrich Comanche type of prospect or a long wing prospect in the mode of a Keyshawn George type.

Not sure why anyone thinks the provider puts much thought into a 'mock draft'.

At this point, the mocks are still 95% Big Board rankings.

With projections like that, that once very solid site is now NBA Daft.
