I don't think they want to. The Caps win when it is low scoring and low event, a choppy game, like the first period in game 1. That is the only way they can win these games IMO. The Caps are missing two dmen, who I think will be back in game 3. Both solid, and important for them, but neither is great or big time.
Rangers would love to play pond hockey. They are one of the best in the league at that style. The caps are just not skilled enough. Ovechkin is a grandpa who is not the same player anymore. However knowing the rangers they can somehow still blow this game.
