Game threads for baseball don't really make sense to me, but threads for each series does.
    4/22: Elder (0-0) v Weathers (2-1, 2.70)
    4/23: Fried (1-0, 7.71) v Rogers (0-2, 3.92)
    4/24: Lopez (2-0, 0.50) v Sanchez (0-1, 6.14)

No idea what to expect from Elder after his second-half swoon last year, but certainly hoping for him to show the same promise he showed early.

Fried started the season with two rough outings, but has a 3.17 ERA in his past two appearances. Looking for that to continue against an anemic Miami offense presently sporting the league's lowest OPS.

Can't necessarily predict a sweep, but we shouldn't be surprised by one.

    Go Braves!!

Shaky first from Elder giving up 3 straight hits, but that play at home seemed to settle him down, and he's been pretty solid since. And just as I'm typing this, he gives up two hits. Even if he gets out of this inning, I don't think he goes more than 5.

Weathers has looked dominant in the other side. Need the bats to wake up and chase him.

I'll take a 3-0 victory over (likely) the best pitcher the Marlins have to offer. Nice to see Elder have such a strong first outing.

There was a lot to like from Elder. And some not to like. But he pitched around all of the jams he got in, some with a little luck. No walks on the night. He's consistently around the plate, pitching to contact, allowing the defense behind him to help him out. Often times, though, that can get you hurt when hitters know you're going to be around the plate.
Still, I like that he got trough 6 2/3, considering it looked like he might not make it out of 1!

    And D'Arnaud!!

3rd time through the lineup with Riley leading off... just knew that 6th inning was gonna be good. Miami really shouldn't have left Rogers out there.

I love that they're letting Fried go for the CG. He's earned the opportunity

And he got it--beautiful! Under 100 pitches too. My calculations now have his ERA at 1.77 over his last 3 appearances. Gotta love that.

Brilliant outing by Fried, more contributions from different guys in the order, like Duvall. Another series won.

Sixto Sanchez has been announced as the Marlins' starter for game 3. With 7 appearances this season (all from the bullpen)--scoreless in his last 3--he gets his first start since 2020. Looking at his recent appearances, he seems to have difficulty with the strike zone, and has had a knack for pitching himself into and then out of trouble.

I don't expect the Braves batters to be so forgiving today.

Nice to see the top of the order (except Riley) have a solid start to tonight's game. Hope they can keep it up now that they've chased Sanchez.

Lopez with another solid start on the young season. Love seeing all of our guys go deep this series, with very low pitch counts
