Then what you mean is you want to watch people jump high, not watch people play basketball. I bet you HATED it when Muggsy Bogues was in the NBA. Ironically, it's now almost a cliche that if you want to watch teams actually play the game "the right way" you watch women's basketball. So much of a cliche that Shaq's saying it.
I'm saying that the tired old attack on Women's Basketball was that if it was any good then people would want to watch it. Now Caitlin Clark comes along and the Women's college final gets better ratings than the Men's and suddenly we get this guy coming out of the woodwork talking about how he's better than her and the same morons who were making the old argument are now arguing that it's stupid to be paying her all this attention because the men are better. Didn't think my point was that confusing.
I'm fairly confident that I could beat Caitlin Clark....... at Skipbo. I'm pretty good. Maybe a little rusty. I'd need to practice a few hands.
He has size but she can step back and shoot over him. Why should she waste her time playing am unskilled man?
For some reason this reminds me of the 15 year old soccer team beating the USWNT. just because 15 year olds could beat the USWNT doesn’t change the fact that against other similarly talented women, the Uswnt was dominant
Also I just watched the video and the context changes it a little bit. He was asked what the weirdest thing NFL teams were asking him and he said “if I could beat Caitlin 1 on 1” I thought he was just running around saying “I could beat her”.
I see you fit into the group that doesn't actually know anything about his talent or skill set but decided to make a statement about it.
Bullshit. He is a fine athlete but he is not a basketball player. The game requires skill set, not just athletic ability. BYW Camilla Cardozo is 6'7", same height as the late Jerome Kersey. But I never saw Jerome strut his stuff in stilleto heels.
What I thought was bizarre and absurd was all the hoopla about her "beating" Pete Maravich's scoring record. I mean, WUT? No. No she didn't. Why manufacture such a false equivalence? She can be great at her sport without comparing her to male athletes.
Did you even watch any of his highlights or did you just fill in your knee jerk your reaction? Because it's kinda obvious you didn't pay attention to the fact he played basketball in high school and was named All Iowa in basketball as a senior (and I assume other years too), and scored 1800 points in high school and 200+ steals. If he's "not a basketball player" then why did he average (as I had stated) over 26-8-7 as a senior? what in the literal and actual fuck does that have to do with anything?
It's confusing because nobody in this thread is actually saying what you're claiming people are saying. Ed said he doesn't watch Women's basketball for that reason, but nodding is arguing that people shouldn't.
Someone is unhappy a woman is getting too much attention. Newsflash. Your penis is not going to fall off.
There's probably a bunch of football players that could beat Steph Curry 1 on 1 - he's small and easily pushed around. Don't think anyone would ever make these statements about beating Curry 1v1 or even if it's true that it would matter. Kind of odd that this is a story.
Are you talking about me? You mean the guy who said "It just turns into tribalism." and "That's not to say just because he's athletic, stronger and faster, that he's a better basketball player." and "I don't get why we need to be comparing mens and women's athletes as a way to justify or validate female athletes. Yeah, he could probably beat her at hoops, so what? She's still a great representative for women's sports. A woman's ability vs a men should have no bearing on their credibility." and "She doesn't need to prove herself against him, just as he doesn't need to prove she's not as good as men are (or he is, in this case) either. Like I said (I think I did?), her performance against a man doesn't change her performance against women. Women shouldn't need to prove themselves, or compare themselves, against men." and "she ain't lying." (in regards to the whole golf thing). Because IF you're saying that to me, you are too much into your shtick. You first said he was an "unskilled" basketball player, "not a basketball player" (even he was one in high school and it's not like that skill drops off the face of the earth because he played football instead). Your act is tiring, and predictable. Which is sad, because you and I agree on most things. But you reacted to what you wanted it to be what I said, instead of what I *actually* said. So spare me this "YoUr PeNiS wOn'T fAlL oFf" horse shit.
This thread is much ado about nothing, and has nothing to do with the Blazers. Please move to the OT forum.
