Toronto has been in control for much of this game but Boston is starting to get it together... should be a great finish.
Good win by the Leafs, they put themselves in a position to play an anything can happen game 7, which is all you can ask for when you trail 3-1. I may slight lean towards the Bruins at home in game 7, but no doubt the Leafs can win that game. I wonder what happens with Matthews. And there is a lot of pressure both ways in that game. The winner moves on and can take a little breath getting through round 1, the loser could look very different next season - either the Leafs are done early again as usual OR the Bruins blow a 3-1 lead in the first round for a second straight season. Big pressure game IMO. Should be a fun one Saturday night. We are starting Sunday, time TBD, we'll find out the time after the games tomorrow night I'd guess, will there be zero, one, or two game 7's Sunday. I had a feeling Sunday was the most likely scenario, the Knicks open round 2 on Monday night at MSG. Let's see if they can both make the ECF. As for Sunday game 7's, I think there is a very reasonable chance at least one of Vegas or Nashville will find a way to win game 6 at home and force a game 7, maybe both will win, but I'd be surprised if at least one didn't win.
Yes, the Rangers will have 6 days off, and the Canes will have 4 days off. All I ask is don't give us a 12:30 start, I hate that. I would guess we'll play during the day, but hopefully it is a 3:00 start. If there are two game 7's and 3 total games Sunday, it may force the Rangers into a 12:30 start, we'll see.
I am not saying that won't be the case, but it still shows as TBD on ESPN and NHL.com. I would think the 12:30 slot is out as I cannot see them telling the Rangers/Canes tomorrow morning, oh you are playing 12:30 on Sunday. So, it may be the 7 PM slot, which I would love, but I'll believe it fully when I see it on ESPN/NHL.com.
I'd be stunned if the sportsbooks didn't have it right although on ESPNBet it shows 1:00pm. That would be a drag.
Looks like 4 on Sunday per ESPN and NHL.com. Game is on ESPN, which makes sense since ESPN has Sunday night baseball at 7, so they have the hockey game at 4 as the lead in. No more MSG, so we get ESPN and TNT moving forward.
2 game 7s in the first round. Boston v Toronto and Dallas v Vegas. These should be fantastic and low scoring games...very much looking forward to watching them play out.
Two excellent game 6's last night, hopefully we get two excellent game 7's this weekend. Even if I give a little edge to the home teams, I wouldn't be shocked at all if the road teams won. That Vegas/Dallas series is awesome, two top level teams, the loser will be done in round 1, and the winner can win the Cup, and no one would be surprised. Fun stuff. Vegas/Dallas game is 7:30 on Sunday, after our game at 4:00.
Woll got hurt in game 6 and is out tonight. Great game so far. This is such a huge franchise impacting game IMO. I believe the losing team will fire their coach and have changes in personnel next season. I think it is that big, and obviously the winning team continues on their quest for the Cup. Big 3rd period upcoming.
Stanley Cup Playoffs...Game 7...OT...there is no better scenario in any professional sport. Fight me.
What a great finish, and awesome pass to setup Pasta who had a down series but stepped up big (the great pass made that play). Boston would have been the first team in the NHL/NBA/MLB to blow a 3-1 series lead in back-to-back seasons, huge win for them. I expect a new coach and major changes in Toronto, you have to deal one of the big 4 for some D IMO, it isn't working as is. I am happy Boston won as I think they will be tougher on Florida than Toronto would have been, I expect Florida to win the series, but Boston will beat on them a bit, and has a shot. I am also 7-0 so far with one game left in round 1. If the Stars win, I will go 8-0 and will have called every winner, my bracket looking solid. I like all my 2nd round picks, except I think the Oilers could/will beat the Canucks if Demko isn't back. I had Panthers/Rangers and Avs/Canucks, we'll see if my bracket stays strong. Love the NHL playoffs, and two more great games on Sunday.
I was looking at the round 2 predictions on NHL.com, and 9 of 15 picked the Canes over us, all 15 picked the Panthers, and 14 of 15 picked the Oilers. On ESPN.com, 14 of 24 picked the Rangers, 23 of 24 picked the Panthers, and 23 of 24 picked the Oilers. They give the Bruins and Canucks almost no shot, which I find interesting. Between the two, 20 picked the Rangers and 19 picked the Canes.
Now that the Rangers have a good start under their belts, we get ready for another game 7. Can only hope it is as good as last night's game. I give a small edge to Dallas winning 3 of the past 4 games, but Vegas absolutely has the talent and ability to win this game, and they are still the defending champs. Should be a fun one.
