Totally disagree - the Blazers having unknowns like Sharpe/Scoot is the the reason they DO NEED to gamble here. They need to hit a couple big risks to build a contender. If the Blazers already had a couple allstars there would be an argument to be conservative if they were very close to contending.
I agree I can imagine Scoot & Sharpe ending up with a dozen all-star games combined. I can also imagine then with none Blazers can't assume they have their stars yet and stop looking
Roy’s pace to his game is what stood out to me. He could get to his spot anytime he wanted. Silky smooth
Talent is talent measurements especially hand size, wing span, vertical are slightly overrated to me. There has been a ton of players who don’t look the part physically that end up being good players. high risk high reward and in a week draft I’d have no problem taking big risk this year
Blazers fans waited how long for Zach Collins to get better? The waiting program has already been established
Respect the opinion but Topic is not a good shooter at this time and will not be improving while out rehabbing, which has yet to be scheduled. I’d rather gamble on bigs and give Scoot/Sharpe every opportunity to prove themselves. Just an opinion.
I remember reading about the Run-TMC Warriors, and how when Chris Mullin used to get the ball in isolation, Tim Hardaway would just yell "layup!" because Mullin could get to the hoop and finish despite being so white and slow. Well...: Wouldn't it be nice to have a guard who can get bumped and still finish?
The case for Nikola Topic falling outside the lottery Nikola Topic NBADRAFT • PG CAMERON SALERNO'S RANKING17 FINAL CONSENSUS RANK8 View Profile When I compiled my first big board of the draft cycle earlier this calendar year, I had Topic ranked No. 5. In my final big board, I have Topic ranked No. 17 — nine spots lower than his consensus ranking of No. 8. There are two main factors on why he dropped so far for me, and the obvious one is his health. There's a chance Topic could miss time because of his ACL injury, and that's concerning. The other and more reasonable point is other point guards in this class are better. I have Rob Dillingham ranked No. 1 overall on my personal board. Other point guards I ranked ahead of Topic are Stephon Castle (5), Isaiah Collier (10), Jared McCain (11) and Devin Carter (12). Although Topic plays the position in control, his lack of explosiveness and length are more reasons why he's lower on my radar. -- Cameron Salerno
I'd like to grab him with pick #14. We're the perfect team to take a flyer on a guy like this next season.
If we are taking flyers on guys, I’m taking flyers on SFs and PFs. if all we drafted for the next ~3 years was SFs and PFs, I’d be happy.
