Clingan is also #3 on the V.8 mock draft from No Ceilings. Of course, it's unclear whether or not these folks are hearing their own chatter on this or simply piggybacking on the Givony bandwagon. Regardless, I think it's pretty clear that Givony (perhaps with help from Woj) has been the most tapped-in draftnik in terms of what teams are thinking out there though. I still remember that he was on the Miller to the Hornets train from nearly the lottery to the draft last year when almost all others were slotting Scoot #2. I don't think that was happenstance.
unless he knows that no team in the top-6 has any intention of drafting Clingan anyway...I did say I had reached for the tin-foil on that one
Curious Tankathon has had the Blazers taking the Duke Center, Filipowski for weeks at 14. Has he even worked out for the Blazers? Not hearing anything about him. I am not big on taking a center with either pic because I think they are set with Ayton.
I agree with you. I do think their Mock draft is pretty good through 7 though. (although I would swap positions for Topic and Castle) https://www.tankathon.com/mock_draft I am ok with Holland at 7 but if we did I think we need a wing who can shoot at 14. So based on who is available in their mock.... I would highly consider drafting George at 14
CBS latest has us with Clingan and Williams; Holland going at #5. https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/...1-pick-injury-drops-nikola-topic-from-top-10/
Terrance Shannon in the 2nd even though they think Dadiet would be available there. I don't think so. Jamal Shead at #40 even though they think Tyler Smith available there.
Here is the latest from Wasserman at Bleacher Report. I actually think theirs is a lot more accurate than CBS, at least down in the end of the first round, He has Detroti taking Williams at 5 which I am fine with cuz I don't like Williams, but then us taking Clingan at 7. I would rather go Holland or Salaun there. At 14 he has Da Silva. I would hope either Salaun or Holland drops there. If not, maybe Ware, although in this mock he goes at 13. Or maybe Blazers like Missi or DaRon Holmes ? Second round Kevin MCullar who is supposed to be Josh Hart like (or lite). 23 years old with a knee injury. and Dillon Jones, who is in today for a workout at 40. https://bleacherreport.com/articles...s-full-2-round-predictions-with-2-weeks-to-go
Second round predictions are worse than useless. Da Silva at 14? Before he works out for us? I still don't see Clingan falling to 7. And Dillon Jones worked out for us a while back - it's a different Jones today.
Buzelis: "Castle figures to be in play at No. 4, but Buzelis offers superior positional size and athleticism, better shooting and more flashes of shot making diversity." Cody: "Williams would be an easy fit in Detroit, either at the 3 or the 4, particularly if he even gets close to his 41.5 three-point percentage from college." (He has a long ways to go before he is a 4-But I do like him as our SF of the future) Ware: "The narrative about his underwhelming motor has seemingly been squashed" DaSilva: "His athletic limitations could restrict him at both ends of the floor, getting to and finishing at the rim or stopping quicker wings and stronger 4s." (So how do they think he will go in the lottery?)
If we take Clingan over Salaun I will turn in my blazer fan card. 1. Because I would be pissed 2. Because I don’t think there’s a chance in hell we would do that
I am NOT trying to be rude but saying you will turn in your Blazer fan card might be one of the silliest things to say at least in terms of taking a stand on a draft pick. There is no one in this draft that would make me go -- IF the Blazers draft him I am DONE with them -- well maybe Bronny if they take him at 7 or 14 -- LOL
I have always been intrigued by Buzelis simply because you can't teach height. Positional height is huge in how I would like the Blazers put together after small ball failure. Also, people forget that the G-league uses the NBA 3 point line. I would hope that Buzelis has better numbers as a rookie after being acclimated to the long line this past season. As for Williams, I am intrigued because he is the younger brother of a very good, young NBA player. I have experience with younger siblings excelling from learning from the mistakes of an older sibling. Additionally, Williams shot well from college three, on limited shots though. The only knock on Ware has been his motor while at Oregon. My personal opinion is that Altman is not the coach to go play for if you want to do one and done. He went to Indiana and showed out. I would love to have him if he could be a Nic Claxton with a better shot. Never been interested in DaSilva.
In my mind i've turned my Blazer fan card in more than 100 times but hope springs eternal and I always get sucked back in. Ive been living in Arizona for 22 years.
Spurs fans discussing moving up to grab Sarr. The 4 & 8 picks have a lot more traction then Portland's 7 & 14.
