Reath looked good last year in summer league, then was a solid backup during the season.

Badji looked worthless, then was worthless.

I'm not worried about Clingan scoring as that's hard to structure. But if he will have an impact in the NBA as a rookie I'd expect we see glimpses in summer league.

why the fuck isn't scoot playing

He is pretty much a MUST with Clingan on the roster since all the other guards are gonna use it as 'my time to shine' and not run a proper offense

    fucking great

Let's best honest.... summer league is about on par with the G League. We already know that Scoot can perform well in the G League. He needs reps in the NBA as a starting point guard. I don't think summer league would help him much.

Sharpe would be on his third stint in summer league, which is pretty rare.

    Same with Jabari.

I said nothing about scoot needing it
I said Clingan needs Scoot because otherwise Clingan is gonna get absolutely no offensive reps

Summer league is like the G league in that it's not a big man showcase...it's a chuck fest by guards trying to get jobs. Clingan will feast in the paint but it's going to be off rebounds probably.

Scoot not playing is a red flag. Brandon Miller is playing.. what's going on here?

a stretch but, trade coming? not risking injury because he's being shopped?

Until we hear something plausible, Scoot not playing is a major red flag.

I guess if they really are trading Anfernee, Scoot shouldn’t risk injury in summer league?

I mean he's not going to learn anything new from SL that he didn't already learn from actually playing a season in the NBA.

When you've proven yourself without a shadow of a doubt like Scoot has, you don't need Summer League #jk

Everybody please remember, all these Summer League teams not only play their four games that are scheduled. They also play non-televised, non-attended games at local gyms. Members of Blazers media told me a few years ago that these are the best games and that a player like Scoot can jump into those as they are informal but attended by all the brass.

??? I don't see this at all. Scoot was averaging 18 ppg towards the end of the season there - I don't see Brandon Miller playing on the Hornets SL team.

It all depends on what you think the point of the SL team is. If we're honest, there isn't much point, except for unattached players trying to get invited to NBA training camps or get overseas teams to offer them contracts.

For those surprised that Scoot isn't playing: find me the highest profile non-rookie who IS playing. I'm waiting...
