Jamal Murray without Jokic is shockingly mediocre.

personally be pissed if I was JBrown, not only did they not pick him they picked his teammate. I like White but Brown deserved that spot (ok the White and Brown didn’t sound good lol)

Still bugs me that Sharpe didn’t make the Canadian Olympic team……. Puts doubts in my mind. Honestly he’s the player I’m most excited about on our roster. If he truly has superstar potential wouldn’t Canada want him on the team even if he’s at bottom of roster this Olympics?

Do we know they didn't pick Brown? They probably first confidentially talked to who could join and got a commitment first, for all we know Brown was busy or not interested.

Yeah its concerning Sharpe didn't make it, if he was going to be a key in future Olympics Canada would at least want him as the 12th man.

So he probably isn't developing like we hope or maybe he isn't recovered from his injury.

I don't think we know he "didn't make it". Edey, for example, chose to play in SL instead.

    Brown is blaming Nike.

I agree. He's easily better than several guys on their roster.

Looks like there was never an intent for him to make it. This from June 19th

    https://www.blazersedge.com/2024/6/...zers-shaedon-sharpe-team-canada-training-camp

"Bennedict Mathurin and Shaedon Sharpe will also attend training camp to gain valuable Senior Men’s National Team experience, but they will not compete for roster spots this summer."

    Exactly!
    """"
"Would Brown's backlash toward Nike in 2022 and the decision to rock Swoosh-less sneakers this past season be enough for Team USA's primary apparel brand to avoid selecting him for the 2024 Paris Olympics? It's definitely possible.

And, if we're making assumptions based on Brown's tweet — he certainly believes so."

I doubt this is true. What was Grant Hill's response? Or Steve Kerr?

    Edit: here was his response:

My fear is that Sharpe chose to play NBA2K at home instead.

Yeah I don't see a killer instinct in him or a lot of motivation. Doesn't mean he can't be a good starter or have an Andrew Wiggins 2022 type season to help us in the playoffs. But I'm starting to doubt he will be a #1 or #2 option that leads a team to contend.

Bro? He was the Finals MVP. He is easily the second best player if not the best player on the team that just won the championship. He is personally saying he would have been very willing to play on the team. Nothing taken away from White or anything he has achieved but this is obvious. If you put on a pair of Nikes and purposely take the swoosh of for an NBA game and even take pictures to show everyone what you are doing you will pay a price.
Nike is the current team uniform sponsor. They will not allow him to do something like that on a stage like the Olympics.

My question is why wasn't Brown picked in the first place? Lets see what happens if Durrant can't go? Calf injuries have a tendency to linger? Are they going to let him stay injured through the Olympics?
If another player drops out are they going to use the same excuse?

So you are saying Grant Hill is lying? Certainly possible.

I think he's bought and paid for and Nike is telling him to go that route. Yes.
Lying is tough to decipher. Very tough to prove. He is the managing director. This is like saying Joe Cronin is lying when he says he is trying to build a team.
Why would Grant Hill want to add that kind of drama to a team? The underlying problem however is still the same? He has a beef with the sponsor.
So the grey area is very real.

I think people forget how raw Shae is/was in his basketball career.
