Its not like trading an $8m/yr at best 5th defenseman with 2 full years left on his contract is an easy task. Especially when you can only work with 16 teams. At this stage of the off-season most teams either don't have a ton of cap space, do have cap space but still have to sign their RFA's or are finished with making/building their roster.

I think he's going to force the Rangers to keep him this year, and then in his final year maybe he'll agree to move. I'm surprised he wouldn't go to Buffalo, they have a good, young nucleus on the cusp of the playoffs.

He’s a fucking douchebag. They won’t do it, but I would strip him of the C.

We will probably never know for sure but, I have to imagine the Rangers had eyes on at least one high profile FA and were counting on unloading all or part of Trouba's salary to make it happen.

Trouba lost all his balls last year to his wife. That’s why we didn’t see him have one big hit last year.

Trouba is the first dman to 100 hits/blocked shots every year, insignificant to fans of the soft Satherite hockey style that guarantees annual failure but is essential to winning postseason games. Meanwhile Fox has no trade restrictions yet, a higher cap hit with a contract going until 2030 and will bring back a huge return but those railing against NTCs hesitate to move a guy who hasn't scored a postseason goal in 3 years. Also as the lone member of the Rempe fan club I was delighted to see he's going to be working out with Kreider, those squeamish to see a player wearing a Rangers jersey mete out punishment can look forward to Rempe learning the nuances of parking in front of the net looking for deflections.

Trouba fucking sucked last year and he didn’t play physical at all compared to the year before. Physical play doesn’t mean jack shit if you can’t get out of your own zone or you can’t keep it in the other zone on the forecheck. Two things the Rangers weren’t good at all year, especially in the Florida series. Rempe has a ton of work to do on his game before he can be a valuable player.

If you're relying on Rempe to be a major factor on your team in the playoffs, you're season is over.

Probably not a great sign they could only get a 1-year deal done. Lindgren is a UFA next summer, and it will be difficult to see the Rangers keeping him unless he is willing to take a discount, which seems unlikely as he didn't take one this summer.

I would assume that ends the Rangers summer. Lost Wennberg, Gustafsson, Wheeler, Roslovic, and Goodrow and added Smith and Carrick.

The way this summer has played out is all the more reason Drury should have gone for it at the trade DL instead of adding bit players at best, that could have been their best shot at a Cup. We'll see how it plays out starting in October.

I still think there's a decent chance we see a Zegras or Vatrano trade by training camp.

Verbeek is a moron who overvalues his players and has no clue how to build a team. His dumbass should have been fired a long time ago.

Wow, Edmonton loses Broberg and Holloway to StL on offer sheets, pretty nice move for them.

Edmonton had no cap space. Will be interesting to see how those two players develop for StL.
