re the ball hog note, He was touted as a playmaker coming out of school—not a shooter or defender but someone who handled the ball and got others involved. Portland has one guy like that on their team rn—idk if brogdon or ant fit that description in a proper sense.

Ballhog ?? did anyone actually watch Dalano's first game? He's playing with several teammates that struggle creating their own shot. Drive kick pass only works for 24 seconds. Eventually somebody has to shoot the ball.

At his size, he can do some things no other frontcourt Blazer can do.

After seeing him a couple games he reminds me of Shaun Livingston with a better 3 point shot.

Really? What I've seen is for every couple of decent plays he makes he has a shockingly bad one. I can attribute that to inexperience. However, I was thoroughly disgusted by the lazy playground shit he put on display, on offense and on defense, in the last few minutes of the Wolves game. If he can't screw his head on and take this opportunity more seriously than that, he'll never make it in the league.

Me too. If you have any pull, we’d be happy to add SGA and Jamal Murray to our collection of Canadian ex-pats.

If we signed Danilo Gallinari we could see Danilo to Dalano assist.

Danton sure gets to the basket in a hurry with those long strides and long arms. If this guy had a neck, he'd be seven feet tall. Further proof you don't play ball with the top of your head.

Danton's shooting though is like a box of chocolates. It's so inconsistent, shot to shot, I hold my breath every time he launches one, even at the free throw line.

Did Boston basically give him to us for free because they fleeced us so bad in that June Holiday deal?

It sure feels like it in hindsight

Should have held out for a July Holiday, or perhaps even an August one.

BOS is in the tax. They can’t afford anybody else. They let Walker go for free.

Dalano's 25th birthday is coming up on the 7th of November, 2024

Here's a little review of his basketball life so far:

Banton is the son of a Jamaican father and Canadian mother.[2] He grew up in the Mount Olive area in the Rexdale neighbourhood of Toronto.

He played for Western Kentucky (2018-19) and Nebraska (2020-2021). He sat out the 2019-2020 season "and honed his skills with the scout team."

On December 17, 2020, Banton recorded just the second triple-double in Nebraska men's basketball history with 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in Nebraska's 110–64 win over Doane University.

Banton was drafted with the 46th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors, making him the first-ever Canadian to be drafted by the franchise.

On November 24, 2022, Banton scored a career-high 27 points, alongside four rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks, in a 115–111 win over the Detroit Pistons.

In July 2023, Banton signed a two-year contract with the Boston Celtics.

On February 8, 2024, Banton was traded, along with cash, to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for a protected second-round pick.[19] On March 27, Banton scored a new career-high 31 points along with 5 rebounds and 9 assists in a 120–106 loss to the Atlanta Hawks.[20]

In Portland's season finale against the Sacramento Kings on April 14, Banton went 0–for–15 on shots beyond the arc. In doing so, he became the first player in NBA history to attempt as many three–point shots without a make.

What Banton has done shooting-wise this season is way out of wack with his previous averages.

Is he just on a hot streak? Or has his game changed somehow? I hope he gets some more playing time just to find out.

It would be crazy if this same guy just started throwing up bricks, but he's already in the NBA record books as the most epic 3-point bricklayer ever. :dunno:
