Honestly I wouldn't say one All-Star nod is elite. I'd say All-NBA is a better barometer. I think Scoot could still make an All-Star team. I'd have to go back and look, but I think I said last fall that I see Shaedon as more the superstar caliber player and Scoot being a borderline All-Star but also being the engine of the team. I'm still hopeful he can achieve that.

Yeah, is he much better than last season? Definitely not, but for someone to say that he hasn't shown ANY progress is bullshit. The stats don't back that up at all.

Not by much? Seems awfully close to where he was last season.

Look at the advanced stats I posted. Some of those are much better.

the dozen games at the end of last season when Simons didn't play

averaged 17 & 8 while shooting 41% on three's. The turnovers were ugly but he's cut down on them, a little, this season

Again this is comparing to a last ditch tank set of games that he had carte blanch. Seriously Scooot has not improved much at all. Time for a bunch to realize this year is another learning year and he might not be a great pick. Good kid but maybe not worth the #3 and losing Lillard?

    That's True Shooting %. That's not a small jump. And that's around 2%.

I'm not arguing with those observations. Just making a circumstantial case for some hope. It's not like anybody taken after Scoot is standing out from the crowd

I wouldn’t even bother replying to Aldo, dude is a borderline troll and nothing good ever comes out of his mouth.

More people should just ignore his posts personally

Amen is still looking really nice. That's the only guy I would say you could have taken instead. His high end outcome is elite role player though. I still have high hopes for Scoot. He needs more reps. More playing with the ball in his hands. What the organization is doing to him right now is an absolute disservice. Hope they move Ant sooner rather than later.

Look at Billups’ 2nd year stats. Or even Giannis. Both Finals MVP. Scoot was ranked high in the draft for a reason. Patience.

Nope, conventional wisdom usually misses the mark. That would explain poor to mediocre overall play, not wild swings between All-Star potential and fringe rotational player. It's in his head, not his developing grasp of the game.

I feel like the same excuses were made for Zach Collins' early struggles: young and inexperienced, trying to learn the difficult big man game. The good ones figure it out quickly.

Exactly. He's lackadaisical when he slows down. And let's be honest, Billups was the king of methodical point guard play, so Scoot might be learning from the wrong guy. But, I'm about as confident that Scoot is the long-term answer as I am about Billups, so I'm not sure which of the two to lean on going forward.

I wouldn't lean on either. I don't expect Scoot to be great. But I would like to give every opportunity so that we know for sure, sooner rather than later.

I'm not saying he won't be great. I just don't have that expectation. if he winds up being great that's awesome. If he winds up just being another good player on our team, that's fine.

If he winds up being a trade chip to get us something else, that's fine too.

I just don't want to lose out on opportunities to draft other guys. I want a ton of draft picks. As high as possible. Nothing else really matters for us right now, except getting those draft picks playing time and good developmental opportunities and coaching.
