Agree to disagree on that. Whether it is Gallant or whether it is Lav, same deal. Is any coach perfect on ice time or lines, nope, and like I wrote I am not happy with how he is handling Zibanejad, but the issue with this team is not coaching, and it wasn't under Gallant, even if I wasn't a big fan of his. The issue is the core, and their softness, sloppiness, lack of structure in their own zone, lack of size, lack of playoff type of players. This is a rinse and repeat type situation, regardless of who the head coach has been. We need to make big changes, it was so obvious after the Florida series, and many said it, but Drury ran away scared. That is the issue, not who the coach is. When you keep recycling coaches with the same results, maybe the coach isn't the issue...

not a surprising result. I hope some of you were able to make a little coin on the outcome at + odds...I didn't place any bets. Ugly ugly game. Rangers give up so many high quality scoring chances...it's insane. The third line better become the first line on Thursday night. They are really the only line that is performing consistently on both ends of the ice. Go ahead and reunite the Trockeck/Panarin/Laf line and Zib/Kreider/Smith but they should be rolling with Chytil/Kakko/Cuylle as their top line.
Gone under the radar has been Kreider and his shitty season to date. 14 games, 8 goals, zero assists, but of those 8 goals, 3 are on the PP, 2 shorties and 1 empty net. So in 14 games he has TWO points/goals from 5v5. That is pathetic.
His center has 3 goals and 6 assists. The top center on the team has been abysmal. It’s a miracle the forwards are doing anything.
You don’t have to look any further than zibaniturnover 20 minutes and our best forward Chytil 12 minutes. Mancini, who I would say at worst is our 4th best defenseman has sit for 3 straight games watching dogshit Trouba, Lindgren and miller fuck up everything on defense. The problem is 2 fold. We have an over his head GM and a coach that refuses to hold his veterans accountable
I’m sorry but the accountable thing is ridiculous. The coach can only play the roster he has to play. You’re not playing lower line guys 20 minutes a night because you think it will make a paint. Coaches are looking after their jobs. It’s up to the GM to give him the tools necessary to win. For the 100th time this is what you get when you’re hamstrung and can’t turn over anything significant when it comes to the roster. Drury doesn’t seem like he wants to do much more than trot out the same roster that has shown the ECF is their limit. But yeah let’s kill one of the winningest coaches in history who has a cup and took two others to the finals. A new coach every two years is the answer.
I think if you look at it through the prism of 'which line seems to be playing better hockey' it would make perfect sense to increase the ice-time for Chytil, Kakko and Cuylle and reduce for Zibanejad and whoever he is lined up with. I would also say don't let their record fool you....yes, they are off to a good start in the standings but they rarely look great during the games...even in the ones they win. They have benefited by having fantastic goalies who are capable of making miraculous saves.

If you don’t make any changes to the roster the results will be the same. It’s common sense. Some of us have said the roster is weaker so what do you expect. If it wasn’t for their goaltending they would be .500 or below right now.
It's one thing to change the roster. It's another thing to bitch slap your dumbass players with talent when they keep making the same fucking mistakes over and over again. You can't improve the roster if the shitheads playing on it don't have trade value because your coach is a pussy and won't hold them accountable so they play better.

You forget a coaches mandate is to win games. They will do what they feel gives them the best chance to do so. Firing coaches every two years but keeping the same roster isn’t a successful formula. What changed with this team where you say oh yeah they can beat Florida in a playoff series now? Miller I would’ve explored a trade. Zibanajad I would explore a trade.

All spot on. It is asinine to blame yet ANOTHER coach with this roster. Some of you guys need to wake up on this one. It's like a rite of passage with some of you to blame the coach, and call for his firing every two years or sooner. At some point you need to wake up and realize it isn't the COACHES (plural) it's the in over his head man putting the team together/keeping the same stale core together who have proven they cannot get it done. Stop with the lazy and easy "it's the coach" BS. You all have said that coach after coach after coach, and enough is enough. Let me also be clear on this, NO COACH makes every right decision. I agree Lav's handling of Zibanejad, and some of the vets, and not playing Mancini is not the right move, BUT as Mess said this is the team he has, and no matter what the team isn't good enough, that's the bottom line. Multiple things can be true, Lav should hold Zibanejad accountable and scratch him to try and wake him up, and play Chytil more, and play Mancini, I agree. But all of that isn't why this team is what they are, that's due to a team that isn't good enough, has proven over and over again it isn't good enough, and is stale as can be. Thank your in over his head Pres/GM for all of it, and that is what matters at days end. Drury decided no changes, and now no matter what Lav does, the team is going nowhere.
Bottom line is Zibanejad and Miller need to man up. Something must be going on with Z off the ice as there's no way his play could've fallen off over just two years. Miller had the depression issue but I'd think he should be past that now.
