If I want other talk, I'll listen to other shows. If I want sports talk, I probably want to listen to sports.

Not saying they need to talk about the Blazers for 4 hours, but that they come off as the kids who are "too cool" to talk about the one major league team here

I listen to the Danny and Dusty show when I want Blazers talk. Plenty of it on there.

I feel like Marang is paid by the team to be an apologist though. So it grates on me when I do.

This has been my pet peeve since the early 90s when sports talk shows exploded. I don't have any interest in listening to what the hosts did over the weekend with their families. Thanks to subscription-based options like Sirius Radio, I change the channel within seconds of non-sports-related discussions. There are too many options not to. But yeah that would suck if I was still living local and wanted local sports discussions.

    I liken it to this.

There are many sports or leagues I give little shits about.

NFL, NHL, UFC (type stuff), boxing, college football, and for the most part, Baseball.

So I only listen to sports stuff on the radio (or Sirius) when it's basketball related, or locally, when it's about the Blazers. And the last place I'm going to listen to for any kind of objectionable talk about the team is 1080 from 3PM onward.

Like I said earlier (I think? Maybe I wrote it and deleted it) those guys still seem to be holding a grudge against the Blazers from stuff that happened 20 years ago, and come off as if they're too cool to talk about them in any way but dismissively.

If you're a Beaver fans, you'll understand this analogy. They're like listening to UO fans talking about any other university, or how the refs are cheating. It's just not entertaining.

Yeah didn't Isaac do the studio show with a few other guys, and then when he was let go, has been super anti-Blazers on there, or just overall dismissive of them?

It's annoying to me, and really, I'm not in the car a whole ton, so get snippets here and there, but for a city with one major sports franchise, there is far more talk about Ducks and Beavers which I couldn't care less about. And the one guy, in Danny, who talks Blazers the most, Dusty seems clueless, and he's loud and obnoxious and talks over his cohosts all the time which makes him annoying as hell to actually listen to.

I don't remember Issacs history, I just remember that there was legit animosity between KFXX and Patterson and Nash.

Danny is ok to listen to (cept when he gets into his USC fan mindset). Dusty is just your typical Duck fan, who is overly cocksure a lot of the time.

I'm not saying that the guys should be hard core Blazer fans, but they should at least know what the fuck they're talking about (tho this is not always true of even national guys).

Neil Olshey chewed him out and demanded his firing on the spot because he was critical of Olshey at the time.

Suke talks about the Blazers quite a bit. Goes to games, understands the team and its prospects etc..

The Blazers have been god awful going on several years though now so there’s really not any meaningful stuff to delve deep into when they’re purposely trying to be bad.

They give a segment a day basically during the season about the Blazers. They bring Jason Quick sometimes etc.

That’s fine if they’re not your cup of tea. I just find it a fun listen. But I follow the major 3 sports and have other outlets for hardcore Blazer talk.

Yeah, all I want is for them to know what they're talking about. Then again, like I said, I'm usually only in the car for like 20 minutes at a time, and you can guarantee half of that is commercials.

i don’t know if that’s the case although he is doing the wrap up show now. I don’t think his tune has changed since joining that show.
I think he gets buddy buddy with players and that’s why. Hes buds with Ant for sure.

I also think he critical of the team. He’s pretty critical of scoot for example

Yeah, early on he said his concern about Scoot was that he didnt do one thing super well and most guards that come into the league do something extremely well on the court. Not sure I totally agree with his take, but it does have merit.

Also Marang is the worst thing to happen to Portland sports since Canzano. I'm sorry you guys have to listen to him as your source for Blazers.

It's better to NOT get Blazers news than to listen to him.

1080 dick rides the ducks because they carry Duck games. 620 used to also be a TON of blazers coverage and then they fired all their guys who talked Blazers.

Shared a wall in college (dorms) with Dusty. Talked sports constantly, go figure. Definitely a football/baseball guy, but has good Blazer takes. Not that I listen thanks to his co-host.
