Holy shiz… I jokingly said that we should sign him to a 10 day contract in another thread and now it’s actually happening! Drunk Santa WAS listening.

If you really wanted to match the "Dame in Milwaukie" thread you probably should have gone with "Scottie Pippin back to Chicago" thread.
He did go back for one season before retiring. Still don't think this will garner much attention beings that was 20 years ago?

Top 75 player who destroyed his value by demanding a trade. Those were your rules

how do you know Dame destroyed his trade value by asking for a trade?

you were one of the people demanding Dame be traded. You also knew that Portland wouldn't trade Dame unless he asked to be traded. So, if the only circumstance that would see Dame traded is after he asked for it, how could that destroy his trade value?

I get the argument about the one-team demand. That has some logic to it. But I think the logic is weak because I think the list of teams that would have been willing to take on Dame's contract was extremely short. It may very well be that Miami and Milwaukee were the only teams on the list. Besides that, I've been told repeatedly that the Blazers got a real "haul" in the Dame trade so 'obviously', his trade value wasn't hardly damaged, let alone destroyed

by who? anybody with an agenda? and where is the logic behind the claim? Make the case yourself because you're making the claim

as I said, he wasn't going to be traded from Portland unless he asked to be traded....do you disagree? So then, any hypothetical trade value he might have had before the ask is irrelevant.

I don't know how you can deny that he destroyed his value by demanding a trade to Miami, and having his agent float rumors that he would refuse to play anywhere else.

He basically damaged a lot of the leverage the Blazers did by pulling that stunt.

that's a different issue and I did mention that. I don't think the evidence is very strong for making that claim because, as I also said, I think the list of teams that would have actually made offers is extremely short. Besides Miami and Milwaukee...who else? Where was this lost leverage going to be applied?

but again, what I was responding to was the claim that Dame "destroyed" his trade value by simply asking for a trade. That makes no sense

Dame had very few teams who were interested. Especially at his age and salary.

There wasn't much leverage to destroy.

Pippen knew he was really the point guard. I maintain we should've started Detlef Schrempf instead of Damon Stoudamire and we would've beaten the Lakers.

I have no sauces, but in many posts here I told MM and everyone else here that Dame was killing his trade value. Doubt he’s using me as a sauce, but I was vocal.
