Doesn't he have the same problem as Anfernee, in that he needs the ball in his hands to be effective but he's not a PG? (And also, he is a sieve on defense)
The fact that I invested in many his rookie cards sure makes me hope so. A hobby I hadn’t picked up since middle school.
I don’t think he cares about the game much. No dog in him. I actually want to see him get bullied by like Dillon Brooks and see what happens. He seems like a little scardy cat
Not really. He seemed to play pretty well with Scoot... And if this staff isn't getting Sharpe to play defense that's a problem with the staff. And possibly a problem with having him on the same team as Simons...
I wouldn't say I believe it, I'd say its more likely he is not an answer than he is, but I do think theres a chance he is a very good starter some day. Maybe the 2nd or 3rd best player on a title contender. He has flashes where he looks like that is a very strong possibility. But most the time he looks like he doesn't have that upside. Maybe it was similar to when Darius Miles was here, had flashes he looked great then totally irrelevant for other long stretches. Scoot is similar to Telfair in that he had huge pre draft hype but little substance after a year and a half. I was hoping this season that we would see Scoot/Sharpe as key long term starters. Instead we should just treat them the same as Camara, Rupert, Banton, etc where they have some upside but they are guaranteed of being nothing. I'd be totally open to using our pick or acquiring in trade someone at their position(s). Clingan has probably looked the best, but couldn't last a week of big minutes until the Blazers big man curse hit. Even if he gets healthy he'll probably always have limited minutes just with his archetype being played off the floor in some matchups. So again I'd be open to drafting or trading for someone else at that position too.
Never thought I'd ever agree with you on much but you nailed this one. Seems to me in his mind he is already playing in Toronto. Unless he does actually and finally get some "dog" in him, he'll never be more than Robin to someone else's Batman....
Would be happy if he was a Robin. If he can be "LaMarsha" as when we had Aldridge here thats fine. Worried that he might instead be the next Travis Outlaw.
I'm still all in on Shaedon. I think he'll still play in multiple all star games. This fucking franchise has put him in such an awkward spot, especially given his personality but once (or should I say if) the runway is clear for him we know he doesn't have a problem carrying this team when he has to. Mostly get Ant the fuck out of the way but send Jerami out as well. Then we'll see how far Shaedon's game has come since we turned the keys over to him at the end of his rookie season and from what I've seen he's added a lot to his game since then. You have these three guys who are all good fourth options and have seemingly no leadership skills whatsoever, leading our team like they're LeBron, DWade and Bosh. It puts everyone in an unfair position where they're bound to underperform. The fact that Joe has let this go on for so long is fucking ridiculous.
Is Sharpe only a "Robin?" Sharpe was the highest-scoring Trail Blazer in 3 of the 4 games where Simons didn't play. In the Minnesota game where Sharpe scored 33 points, the next highest-scoring Trail Blazer (Clingan) scored 17 points, just about half of what Sharpe scored.
I'm cool if Shaedon is the ONLY CAPABLE of being the second best player on a championship winning team. I think all of us know that we're still in need of a superstar player... Shaedon might end up a superstar but he'll need at least a running mate better than anyone on this current roster and it will be great if whoever we acquire is Batman to Shaedon's Robin.
Ah ohh looks like the word is out. In all seriousness, it seems now he’s developing a rep.. yikes lol
Yeah, so what? You could have said the same about Billy Ray Bates. Billy Ray was a highlight machine, but inconsistent as hell. And he certainly wasn't "the future", no matter how high he got our hopes. Sharpe still does not have a"body of work" and that goes all the way back to Kentucky. He's shown flashes but I certainly wouldn't bet the farm on him. I personally still have huge questions about how mentally invested he is in the game, and especially playing it in Portland. I'd love to be wrong but fifty plus years of Blazer fandom has made me a realist. Sharpe still has a long way to go to prove himself.....at least to me. Fortunately he's still quite young....
