Bush league hit by Rempe with the elbow. He really needs to figure this out. Now he gets a 5min penalty and thrown out.
As I called it early rangers lock tonight led by Igor making 41 out of 42 saves and stealing this game. Rangers just play better with Rempe in the lineup. And that is not debatable.
Good win by Igor as the Rangers took the 2nd and 3rd periods off. And that is why Rempe cannot be in the lineup. I missed the start of the 3rd, turned it on and the Stars had a 5 min PP, right away I knew predictably it had to be a Rempe major, and of course I find out it was a Rempe major. The guy cannot be in the lineup until he learns how to play the right way.
Rempe borderline major at best. Should have been a 2 minute boarding penalty. Didnt hit him in the head with his elbow. Kid drew 3 penalties and should have had a penalty shot. Was definitely a factor and rangers play better with him in the lineup. Rangers are now 15-4-1 when Rempe is in the lineup
Messier went on about how the modern day NHL player is a pussy along the boards. They turn their back to you all the time because they don't want to get hit. Rempe has to accept these pussies and learn what not to do.
Fair or not fair, perception is reality. If the refs are keeping a closer eye on Rempe due to history, he needs to learn and adjust. The bottom line is the kid puts the team in bad spots often due to stupid penalties, and it is not sustainable. Either he adjusts or he cannot play regularly. I really don't see any other option.
Spectacular game by Igor, the need for more size defensively was glaring but a nice rebound without Shleprockko Kakko in the lineup. I thought the call against Rempe was fair, he was having a really good game up until that point, it was encouraging to hear Lav say he thought Matt let up but he's a big guy. Exactly Peter, stand up for your player instead of wringing your hands, the NHL hates that the Rangers have a player like Rempe. The Canooks that run the NHL along with the refs grow up with a deep seated hatred of the Rangers so whistles are swallowed and punishments are always severe. The Post had an article about Drury having a team meeting then a friendly shootaround with the team Thursday night before the game, smart move to ease the tension. I'm not onboard with the notion that the Rangers are done, it's way too early. Drury needs to add a physical dman.
I agree despite the fact that there have been some brutal cheap shots taken this year, shouldn't even be a suspension but the NHL wants to discourage the Rangers from playing Rempe. If he was on the Pens he would be lauded as Sindy's guardian.
he clearly sticks out his elbow as he approaches the hit. That’s a dirty play that deserves punishment regardless of what other cheap shots don’t get called.
My point is the NHL's inconsistency with meting out punishment and that it's unevenly distributed, has been for years. .No need to worry about Rempe escaping justice, I guarantee he will receive the maximum punishment. Some here have a hardon for Rempe to fail so any time he crosses the line it's time to break out the pitchforks and torches. I want to see more than a third of a season to make a final determination about Rempe and there are enough guys dogging it for him to earn a look.
Drawing 3 penalties is great. Undoing all that with an unnecessary elbowing penalty is counter-productive. Whether or not the referees choose to never give him the benefit of the doubt he has to realize that the line for him is not as far as it is for everyone else. Keep your elbow tucked into your body and bash him into the glass and you escape the penalty while still delivering a punishing hit. Just be SMARTER.
