It's been demonstrated many times under controlled conditions, under many different experiments, for decades yet mainstream academia scoffs at it. It undermines their mechanistic view of consciousness, as being simply the result of neural firings. How could those firings every extend beyond the brain? This shows your foundational assumptions are incorrect. This is a more recent study of autistic children, who are demonstrating their abilities in controlled scientific experiments.

You're obviously not married or you would have known this a long time ago. My wife seems to ALWAYS know what I'm thinking. But then, being a guy, it's pretty safe to assume I'm gonna be thinking about sex, food or food with sex. So that improves her odds tremendously.....but seriously, my wife and I scare each other sometimes with regular examples of us knowing what the other is thinking. And it almost always comes down to us thinking the same thing at the same time with no prior communication of any kind. I'm gonna assume that it has to do with proximity and the duration of same. But whatever, it's real and pretty damn trippy.
Telepathy has been recognized for a long, long time. Magicians, Tarot readers, Card players, Chess players and as UCD said, most married couples who actually listen to each other. My wife and I can finish each other's sentences or will come up with the same shopping list at the same moment...Don't forget to pick up laundry soap...just put it on my list. I guess it's one of those things that if you don't use it, you lose it. I'm pretty sure hearing impaired and probably visually impaired people have highly sensitive telepathic instincts.
There have been many experiments trying to prove with any validity that telepathy or other classifications of ESP exist and have any efficacy. We had the government attempt this with MK ultra, Men who stare at goats and such. They tried to have Soldiers use mind control to take over others and kill. They tried to have subjects use telepathy and astral projection to view secret enemy sites. We have had universities and other scientific organizations test subjects using any number of methods including Zener cards, drawings, blindfolds, attempts to communicate with others in different rooms, etc etc. Though there have been some seeming successes there have been issues with controls and repeatability. Telepathy has not been proven and yes continues to be labeled as pseudoscience. Magicians who claim telepathy are actually employing methods that are quite straightforward such as using listening devices or a confederate who listens in a reports back. On those talk to the dead shows where they seem to pick random people and pretend to talk to someone from beyond related to them, often they listened to you while you were in line, researched you online, etc etc. Now, actually telepathy or other forms of ESP may indeed exist. It is certainly an interesting phenomenon to study. But, it has not been proven to be real at this point.
I don't need no science. I've experienced it many times, as has my ex-wife. Often when I think of her, she soon calls. A couple of years ago, I was on a streak. Every time I'd wonder how an old celebrity was doing, he'd die in a few months.
Those kind of things certainly happen. I know there are times when I have the feeling something is going to happen and it does.
Most of you are saying it exists due to mind reading of loved ones. Are those more about getting to know one another through time shared though? What about with strangers? This topic has fascinated me since I was a child. I think there is a difference between my wife knowing what I want for dinner without asking vs knowing what the person across from me on the subway is thinking.
