LeBron would not have joined the Cavs a second time if they hadn't drafted him. LeBron should definitely count.

I wanted us to tank in October.

We have 22 wins and are 3 wins behind playin teams. We'd currently be in the playin in the East. The ship has sailed on tanking for a top pick.

Championship level talent certainly isn't being the number one defense in the league and number 6 offense. Nope, not at all. Riiight.

Did we do that for an entire season?

    No?

    Only 11 games?

Cool. Glad we shut that down. That was super easy.

I'd love nothing more than to be wrong in this. I really doubt that I am.

    LOL....geeeezuzz

Portland ranks 25th in offense and 22nd in defense. But of course, you're ignoring the first 41 games and focusing on the last 11. Out of those last 11 games, 8 were at home (Blazers are 8-16 on the road). The combined record of the teams Portland beat is 190-212 (.473). There are 8 teams in the NBA with a .600 winning percentage or better; Portland played 1 of those teams in that 11 game stretch and lost, at home. Only 3 teams Portland beat in that stretch have winning records, and one of those is only 1 game over .500

Does Boston with Tatum/Brown factor in here?

They acquired those picks in trades - not as a result of tanking or their teams own losses.

The Celtics won 48 and 53 games the two years prior to drafting Brown/Tatum at #3/#3. They should give Mikhail Prokhorov a ring.

So while that might show its good to try and get top3 picks on your roster, that doesn't show its good to lose games to rebuild for a top3 pick. Same as a lot of #1 picks have won titles after leaving the team that drafted them.

And of course you're ignoring the last 11 and focusing on the first 41. Reverse recency bias is wrong-headed in the upward trajectory of the team. Obviously, they're getting better, not worse. But go ahead and ignore it.

actually, the ratings are for all 52 games

and yes, there is actual context in the last 11 games

I'm not disputing they are getting better. I'm just disputing they have "championship level talent" which is what you essentially said

That's what i got too. Said it would be unfair to take away from the team the chance to get into the playin. Anybody like Danny Marand who says something else is completely speculating.

By playing deep 8-9 every game, and splitting minutes he's keep the players somewhat happy.

Lol have you ever heard the law of averages? I'd be embarrassed if I wrote this sentence.

You literally are using averages from 11 games when smart people use averages of 41 (or 52 games).

Can't believe i had to explain something so simple.

Make it to the playoffs, get swept, and pay off Chicago with the pick. Keep Ayton, Simons, and Grant because it’s now a “playoff team” with guys in their prime.

Worst case scenario for becoming a contending team ASAP.

With some fans thinking making the play-in is doable AND then seeing what happens — I won’t want to watch those games because I know the minimum they lose by somehow winning — and it’s just not an option.
