We associate bubonic plague, the black death, with the Middle Ages but there are still outbreaks in areas of the world. One of them is Mongolia, where outbreaks are tied to hunting and eating marmots, a small rodent similar to squirrels. Plague is so widespread among marmots that hunting and eating them has been outlawed to prevent spread of plague.

One would think regardless of political affiliation we would all consider bubonic plague a bad thing, right?

No.

Don Jr. went hunting in Mongolia and posted a video of himself roasting and eating marmot, while laughing about how it is illegal. Because laws don't apply to him.
Now, I would not weep overmuch if he got plague. Problem is, it is very contagious.

So, I was vaxed when young but never had the measles, is there a booster or does it not wear off?

 

Those of us old enough to have gotten measles pre vaccine have small comfort of lifetime immunity.

 

Still a few months away from our newborn getting her MMR, so not super stoked about this situation. Will be asking our primary about getting it early.

I prefer reddit. Obviously we'll be talking to our pediatrician at her next appointment, but for now she has some protection from her mother, since she was vaccinated. Even if we got it early (6mo), it looks like she would still need the 12mo and 4-6yr jab.. the scary part is that we have no idea how trustworthy the reporting is going to be when she is at her most vulnerable, 6-12months. Hey RFK, fuck you.
