Very emotional night, especially for fans in their late 40's or early 50's like me, Sam is all we know. He will be missed greatly. Too bad he only saw one Cup in 40 years, and it ended with a terrible season. His greatness isn't diminished though. At least we still get a strong booth with Kenny and Joe next season. I am happy the Rangers won Sam's last two games, including a shutout tonight. I am also happy Kreider scored in his last game as a Ranger after 13 very good seasons, he scored 22 goals this season, which is not terrible. Say what you want, but Kreider is a very good all-time Ranger. I thank him for his time here. I'd be shocked if he is back, I see him as the most likely guy to be traded this summer (along with K. Miller). Hopefully Mika can build off tonight and come back focused and rededicated to being a stud again next season. The next coach must hold him accountable if not. He is so key to this team next season. Rangers end up with the 11th pick. Major changes MUST be made, the core MUST be broken up, cannot be afraid to make bold aggressive moves. They'll also need to find a new coaching staff, as I fully expect Lav to be fired soon, and sadly Drury will still be calling the shots I believe. I have little faith in Drury to get it done, but I am sure as heck rooting for him to prove me wrong and build a winner this summer. With the Pens having the Rangers 1st round pick next season, Drury must do EVERYTHING in his power to ensure the Rangers are back on top next season, I would trade the 11th pick if it were my decision. HUGE off-season coming up. Please get it done Drury, and prove me, and others, wrong.
What a career. It won't be the same without hearing Sam during the games but nothing lasts forever. It would be great if he read this board but, as unlikely as it may be it's the only place we get to salute him. Thank you, Sam for your passion, professionalism and your incredible talents as an announcer. You truly made these games more enjoyable to watch. You will be missed.
