If he doesn't sign a long term deal, franchise tagging Chad Clifton could turn into one of the biggest mistakes in recent memory. $7 million for one year? Good lord... We could sign three offensive linemen for that much and probably still get the safety help we need.

Here's hoping he signs a long term, cap friendly deal. If he doesn't...this could really blow for the Pack.

I feel you bro. Our FA Tackle, John Tait is putting us through the same paces right now. We will have to pay him $6 million if we can't reach a deal. I'd like to keep him, but not as badly as I'd like some defensive help. How about a Tait for MacKenzie trade?

Man, this franchise tag thing is crap! He wants a $12 million dollar signing bonus? We should have cut him or traded him, in my opinion. The money we're about to blow could sign a quality tackle and still shore up many more needs for the team (safety/d-line).

Gilbert will be missed as a fan favorite and inspirational leader, but as a player, unfortunately his time was due to come up. Especially with the acquisition of Grady Jackson.

Truth be told, if he stays in shape and wants to keep playing, I'll bet he ends up doing spot duty for Washington this year.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in New England if we can't keep washington. He has the size to play the nose for us I just don't know what he has left in the tank.
