    i was just mentioning other great backcourts and there has been enough fodder on cousy/hondo and cousy/jones. of course they are up there with the great backcourts.

    If Dumars and Thomas is unacceptable then how about a backcourt of Isaih Thomas and Adrian Delano Dantley?

    I already discussed this. Hondo and Cousy were not better than Kobe and Payton. What I don't get is why you have three or four people listed on some when we are talking about the STARTING backcourts. Sure some of those guys got their fair share of playing time, but not all of them were STARTERS.

    </div>

    How can you say Kobe and Payton and Kobe are better when you never saw Hondo and Cousy play together and before Kobe and Payton have played a game together. Hondo and Cousy are hte most successful guard tandem ever. Also unless you've ever watched old Celtics videos (whic I have) you have no right to say that Gary Payton a PG who is declining offensively ansd defensively and Kobe Bryant are better than a guard tandem that won more championships then any other.

    They won a lot of championships together? They only played one season together. Cous' last season with the Celts was in 62/63. Hondo's first year was 62/63.

    How should Payton and Kobe be considered the best backcourt when they haven't played a game on the same team outside of the ASG. Best backcourts in history are all about chemistry, not overall talent. Payton, Kobe, Malone and Shaq may cancel one another out and bring down each players stats by possibly 5 PPG because there is so much talent. A good example of back court chemistry was Stockton and Hornacek, they may be ferries but they worked good together. I still don't like this topic and how it states 'Payton and Kobe best backcourt of all time?' I mean what if Payton breaks his leg and ends up not playing with Kobe or something bogus happens and they never work together.

    Payton, Kobe, Malone and Shaq may look good on paper and they are probably going to win the championship, but I can't see Payton averaging over 12 PPG or Kobe averaging over 30 again. I don't like this topic since I read the title, wait til the end of the season before you make another topic like this.

    ^^agreed

    it's way too early to put them in the echelon of greatest backcourt. they have the potential, but let's see how they do before we can start making comparisons. also is one year enough to fairly compare them to the rest of the players on the list. i think most of those duos played for 5+ years together.
