<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Antoine Walker is among four players the Mavericks left unprotected for the expansion draft that will take place later this month. All NBA teams except for the two still playing in the NBA Finals had to submit their list of eight protected players to the Charlotte Bobcats by Friday. According to two sources, the Mavericks left off Walker, who started all 82 games last season after being acquired in a trade that sent Raef LaFrentz to Boston. They also left Tariq Abdul-Wahad, Danny Fortson and Tony Delk unprotected. Brad Loper / DMN Antoine Walker, who started all 82 games for the Mavericks last season, is entering the final year of a contract that will pay him $14.65 million. Walker, a forward, is entering the final year of a contract that will pay him $14.65 million. If the Bobcats select Walker, it would give the Mavericks a trade exception for $13.5 million, which is what Walker earned this season. That exception could be used to acquire any player or players earning that sum. The Bobcats must select at least 14 players in the expansion draft, and no more than one from each team. The thinking around the league is that Bobcats head coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff will search for financial bargains in the expansion draft, making it unlikely he would take a high salary such as Walker's. But since Walker's contract is up after next season, he may have some value in trade scenarios that could convince the Bobcats to take him. The expansion draft is June 22 or 23, depending on when the NBA Finals end.</div> Good deal, hopefully we can make some trades on or after draft day, to get us a good defensive center. stories/061204dnspomavslede.eeb0.html" target="_blank">Full Story -- Click Here </font>
I dotn think they should've left 'Toine unprotected because this guy is only 28 and can ball with the best of them. He has no problem taking the back seat to someone younger so his team can win. Hope the Bobcats take him he could be there frachise player, or atleast there first experienced star player.
$14 mill seems alot for a guy who likes to chuck up three's like there is no tomorrow and doesn't like they physical game a whole lot. i dont think the bobcats will take him because the nets left kerry kittles unprotected and he is in his last year too and will make $10mil and the reports were that the bobcats didn't want to take that contract. so if they don't take a $10mil contract, then they wont take a $14mil contract.
Antoine Walker is worth his 14 mil more than Kittles is worth to his 10 mil contract, that's why. Although I don't think the Cats should draft neither of these guys, it would make more sense to take Walker than Kittles.
This seems like a win win for the mavericks really. If the bobcats take walker, then they get some his salary off their backs, if they dont take him.. then they could use him as trade bait or make him come off of the bench.
I don't see the Bobcats taking any Dallas players, they're all overpriced and not really useful for the Bobcats.
Antoine Walker is so overrted. He can't defend plus he has like no low post moves. The only reason it seems like he hits so many 3's is because he shoots so much you lose count of how many he's taken.

Other than that, you're right, he ain't worth keepin' unless he can become like his slightly better counterpart, KVH.
