I believe I read that there's talk of Ray Allen being traded this summer as his contract is up next year?

Well I surely hope they do trade him. And I'd give my right leg to have Ray play with San Antonio. I don't think Ray belongs with the Sonics at all and I personally think the Spurs could definately use a superstar guard and great guy like him to add to their team's chemistry. I know they could have the salary cap space for him. I just don't know if they'll be able to make an enticing trade offer for the Sonics.

Perhaps a multi-player deal consisting of one or two others and some money? Being a huge Spurs fan myself, I looove Ginobili and was all for doing what it takes to keep him on the team. However, with the new prospect of Ray Allen up on the trading block...there's no doubt he'd give the Spurs a whole new look. While Ginobili is a Spurs favorite and no doubt shows tremendous promise, I can't see him ever being the superstar player Ray Allen already is. I think the Spurs should really consider a move like this.

What do ya'll think? Remotely possible or shall I keep on dreaming? [IMG]

Well, short of Tim Duncan who is absolutely untouchable, I don't think the Spurs have the pieces to entice the Sonics into a trade. With Ray expiring after next season and wanting a max extension by the start of next season, trading him will be tricky.

I guess I could see him going to San Antonio, but it seems unlikely. I don't really know who they'd trade, unless they were to resign Ginobli and trade him. I think there are some better teams he could go to though, so I wouldn't expect it to happen.

Yeah it seems like Allen is popular among trade rumors, but Seattle better think of departing with Lewis (who we've likely seen the best from) or Radmanovich before getting rid of a perennial allstar like Allen...they need frontcourt help in the worst way, and a package of either/and Lewis/Radmanovich should be enough to acquire a legitimate post threat...

Toronto gets ripped in that deal. They loose almost 8 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assisits every game, plus getting higher salary. Allen is more expensive than Carter and Peterson combibned.

Seattle does not have the room to take on a bunch of contracts. The only way Ray will be traded is if he would bring in a All-Star quality player in return (preferably in the post).

My guess is that Ray would only be traded for Elton Brand or Ron Artest (and some pieces). No other deal would make sense for both teams.

The Sonics apparently have been contacting teams about trades, and oneof them is Minnesota. There are some decnt trades that could be lined up between the two, but the Wolves don't need him too bad so it's kinda unlikely. You might see a trade like Hudson and Sczerbiak, or Hudson and Olowokandi.

I don't think Spurs are going to go after Allen now since they signed his two year running partner Brent Barry to a contract.

I kinda like the Elton Brand trade. I like Allen, one of my favorite players but the Sonics need a big man that can give us some onffense.

The pacers might try to have the sonics put up players to make the trade work
