Here are some things i think about the 8 teams who have a chance to win the western conference and why.

    The Phoenix Suns:

Reasons : Offseason signings adding Steve Nash and Quentin Richardson will factor incredibly in the points they get and helps the back court.Adding Quentin they get 17 ppg guarenteed + im seeing 6 rpg for him.Adding Steve Nash helps them with their scoring and assists catagory i see him getting 15ppg and 9.8 assists.

Already good: Amare Stoudemire improving dramaticly since his first season I see him adding a few more points and rebounds to his statistics this year and becoming a better defender. Shawn Marion I see him improving to 24 ppg and 11 rpg + getting more free throw shots this year by drawing fouls. Joe Johnson Is a great threat and even though streaky it helps them from the bench averaging 15 points but you never know which Joe your gonna get so I think they should trade him for a center.

    Western Threats :
1.The Minnesota T-Wolves have a great d thats been compared to the Detroit Pistons and have the reigning MVP of the league and 2 all star veterans.

2.The Houston Rockets have the best duo in the Western Conference and the NBA too for that matter though if their is no chemistry they will be beaten.

3.The San Antonio Spurs: 1 name...Tim Duncan the 2 time MVP may be the most boring player in the league but there is no doubting his play making skills and they were tied for number 1 defense in the league with the Detroit Pistons.

These in my opinion are the top 3 teams in the Western conference that have a chance of beating the Phoenix Suns UNLESS they trade for a center.

p.s this should stop people from saying that I can't take a few minutes and post something worth reading.

i dont even see the phoenix suns being a top 3 team, not even a top 4 for that matter... anyways, i think it boils down to 2 teams... the wolves and the spurs... they each boast one of the two best players in the league (i'll let u decide which of the two are better), and both have solid supporting casts (minny has more talent, but SA is a more disciplined <u>team</u>). Houston has an outside shot if they can click right away (lets see how quickly T-mac can adapt), and sacto has an even longer shot than houston, but if they can pull off something big for peja and webb can come back to 80% of the player he was 2 years ago, they could be stronger than ever (but again, this is a long shot imo).

oh yea, no way marion will avg 24ppg with a developing johnson, the addition of q, and the emergence of amare...

Phoenix has the best supporting cast in the league and Sacremento isn't physical enough to win a championship.San Antonio has D but they can't score,I admit I am a huge fan of the Houston Rockets and am from Houston but if any team wins im saying Phoenix .

Ummm, The Spurs are a much much safer bet then the Suns.
Infact, I think it will be in this order.

    1. Spurs
    2. Wolves
    3. Sacramento
    4. Denver

However, that does not have anything to do with playoffs. It usually tends to end this way (except LA would be usually 4th or so instead of Denver) and thos year, these 4 teams look supreme.
Pheonix is great but I expect them to have a Lakers-type season (which basically is, no one knows how they will do since the West is so loaded)

First off, I wanted to point out to Flames that his signature says "T-mac + Yao = 2004 Western Champions! " and yet you're posting about how good the suns are. Maybe it's sarcasm but I don't like people to use sarcasm on the internet cause it's impossible to tell cause you're not talking to them with your voice.

Anyway, I say it will go in this order:

    1. Spurs (no doubt in my mind)
    2. Wolves (will be close to the Spurs' record but I don't think they'll get 1st place),
    3. Houston Now has a very nice team)
    4. Sacramento (Depending on the Peja trade, these guys could end up better or worse than this)
    5. Denver (I think Martin is a bit over-rated but there is no denying his presence),
    6. Portland (Yeah this is my personal hope. Actually you could simply switch around these three teams)
    7. Pheonix (Got Nash and Q. Very nice team with Nash, Richardson, Stoudamire, Joe Johnson, Marion)
    8. Dallas (Lost Nash...tsk tsk...Not enogh fire power left to get them very far).

I think that saying Pheonix could win the top spot in the West or even the second or third spot is a bit far-fetched...

    Why do I put

It isn't sarcasm im from Houston so im thinking they have a huge shot at winning the championship but im realistic and Phoenix has a better shot at it.

Minnesota Timberwolves: They are practically the same team but everyone has gotten better and they signed Googs, a veteran who's awesome off the bench. I saw them they got KG who was the MVP, Spree, Cassell, Hassell, and Szcerbiak off of the bench.

I like them too but they are gonna beat the Rockets in game 7 and then lose to the Suns in a sweep 4-0.

The Phoenix Suns are you Fu*king serious dude?

First of all you say Quentin gives them a guaranteed 17 PPG? Do you remember that game against the Grizzleis he scoreed 0 ponts against? Quentin is a very unconsistent player. Steve Nash will not average 15 PPG as he is crowded with stars now as was he in Dallas. Hell average 13 PPG.

Pretty solid paragraph, but you just show the stats. Joe Johnson is a very underrated player. They should'nt trade him but instead trade Quentin. Also which center is worth Quentin? Not too many as centers are scarce. I do not expect the Suns roster to change. You don't even give an example of which center they shoould trade for.

Nothing wrong I guess, but The spurs have perfected their team with the addition of Brent Barry and the Suns are nowhere near the Spurs or wolves.
I would put Spurs at #1 but the Wolves are arguable. I do not see The Suns getting past the T-Wolves,Spurs,Kings,Nuggets,Rockets, and even Lakers. They'll struggle to even get a playoff seed.

Houstons the second threat? HAHAHA. They have the best duo arguably but NO depth what so ever. THey'll get a 5th seed.

All Tim Duncan need are good role players to win a championship to win a title. With the aqquiratino of Brent Barry The Spurs are definetly the top NBA team right now.

They ALL will beat the Suns. Suns could get a 5th seed if they get a good center, but thats unllikely. The Suns have almost no chance at winning it all. (.00000025 chance they will win it all)

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Flames:</div><div class="quote_post">

I think quality not quantity makes a post good. Saying the Suns win it all is not very inteligent. Your just like that guy Bahir who said the Suns are the best just bnecause they look alright on paper. Amare cant hold his own(at least yet) against KG and Duncan and it will take aabout 3 years for them to serious contenders. Just because your post is long doesn't make it good.

    <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Flames:</div><div class="quote_post">

LOL the Suns sweeping the Spurs? LOLLLLLLlll [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] This is the most idiotic thing yet.

LOL another funny thing. Bet $100 that the Suns are going to win it all? You lost yourself $100. Jeez man you got a loose screw?

The Final thing I want to say is its funny that your sig says Yao "Pansy" Ming
and T-Mac = Champions, but you make a thread saying the Suns win it all.

Both Rockets and Suns have no chance if you ask me.

ok then heres a way to argue with your comment WAIT TILL THE SEASON STARTS IT IS MY OPINION TO PICK WHO I WANT TO FOR THE WESTERN CHAMPIONSHIP AND I PICKED THE SUNS IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS WELL YOU CAN...I THINK YOU KNOW WHAT YOU CAN DO.Also the reason i laughed at you for the sig is because the Heat arent even going to the playoffs and Shaq is way past his prime i mean look how a toe injury sidelined him. Also the threats i didn't mean to have houston as 2nd threat i agree the spurs should be there.

NO depth? with the addition of Sura and Ward we are a much much deeper team. Plus it is rumored that we offered Pike and some others to Chicago to get Mutumbo.I don't think we have NO depth...If we get Mutumbo we are pretty much set. R0ckets forever. [IMG]
