<div class="quote_poster">Quoting FFSBasketball:</div><div class="quote_post">Heh, forgot about those. I'll add LeBron to the list, though not Carmelo. I think the added fans were more a function of the team doing much better (partly because of Carmelo, but also because of Andre, Healthy Camby and the rest of the team). If Melo was traded to TOR, would fans flock to see him like the come to see Vince? In my opinion, probably not. But anyway, that's still not the point. AI, Shaq, LeBron is my list, and none of them will be traded.</div> What about that guy out in Los Angeles, I think his name is Kobe Bryant. He filled seats quite well, along with Shaq. Then you have Kevin Garnett, he fills the seats at the Target Center. There are a lot more than just AI, Shaq, and LeBron.
Who the people are, specifically, is besides the point. The idea is that there are very few of them. I think there are no more than 10, at the most, that could be said to draw crowds like Vince does. That leaves very few people with whom you could trade, to at least get equal value in terms of revenue, not even considering winning. By the way, you say there are "a lot more" players who draw crowds. I'd invite you to name them. I do agree that Kobe draws crowds, but I'm not sure you can base past attendance numbers solely off of Kobe the last few years. I think Shaq and, at least last year, a supporting cast of Payton and Malone might have helped.
garnett fills seats yes....but like was said earlier...how has the timberwolves season ticket sales gone over the course of garnetts career? The sales are still down. Kobe...ya kobe's team put buts in seats...but its the Lakers..they'd sell out with a starting line up of Swed's. and i agree shaq, malone, payton probably helped more than a little. I wouldnt even say AI...i'd put Yao above him. He's great and people love him. But i'd say....1)Shaq 2)LBJ 3) Carter 4) Yao 5) Kobe

Whoever said Vince will have a breakout season is wrong. When Vince wanted to play for the Raptors he only had 1 maybe 2 breakout seasons. Now that Vince has no desire to play for Toronto there's a pretty good chance there isn't going to be a breakout season.
im so late Firstly, Vince is one of the biggest stars in the NBA right now, so even if he's not as good as he used to be, and his knees are about to fall down into his shoes, a couple of college kids and a draft pick will be enough for a trade talent wise. but vince is more of an entertainment player, as we all know. but i dont think the raptors will trade him because now, with the montreal expos leaving the baseball scene to move to D.C., professional canadian sports in the U.S. is probably going to rely on the raptors and vince's entertainment. and, let's be real, hockey is not going to be able to back up what montreal has lost in its baseball team, or what toronto CAN lose in vince. vince and maybe curry are the only players that hold that franchise together.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting FFSBasketball:</div><div class="quote_post">Derf, I agree those are reasons why he's not an ideal player, but that doesn't mean you should trade him. In terms of ticket sales, but more importantly, success of the team, you would never get back equal value for Vince. You can never get back equal value whenever you trade a superstar (see Shaq and T-Mac trades this summer). Trading Vince won't solve those problems, because you won't get a player that's better than Vince. So, granted he has his weaknesses, but you'd be getting weaker by trading him instead of stronger.</div> I agree but i doubt that Vince will actaully try for the raps, and hell just b a big distraction for every1, but if he does try then i will swallow my words but until then... VC l had a great time watching u while u were here... but its time for u to pack...
vince is no moron. he knows that babs isnt going to trade him without getting some good value in return. vince knows that he's only going to hurt his stock and chances of being traded by playing poorley. he needs to prove that he's not about to go down with an injury and that he can put up big numbers. i dont see him "not trying" just because he doesnt want to be in toronto anymore. his best chances of being traded to a team is to play and play hard
