<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Vince Carter is beginning to insinuate that he may not show up at training camp on October 5th. But Raptors general manager Rob Babcock expects to see his disgruntled star forward, even if Carter is still in a funk over not being traded. "His contract says he has to be here and I expect him to fulfill his contract," Babcock said yesterday, in response to rumours that Carter would hold out if he is not traded from the Raptors before the 2004-05 NBA season. "If he does, he does," Babcock said, when asked about the prospect of Carter refusing to attend camp, which will be held at Brock University in St. Catharines. "That's his choice." Babcock said absolutely nothing has changed from Wednesday when Carter finally took it upon himself to personally demand a trade, after using various intermediaries during the summer months to do the talking for him. </div> Full Story
i believe if carter wants to be traded trade him. why hold him on your team and make him even madder. i'm niot feeling babcock on this decision. and plus i think he should trade carter before something career ending might happen to carter. I mean wiht all his recent injuries and such. and then the raps would be in a bad predicament. Just build around CB4.

We have to get something that works for both sides, more importantly for us. We're just not going to give him away. Vince's value is at an all time low right now. If he really wants to be traded, he would try to help his own cause by atleast going to training camp and playing some of this season, at his best so he can rise his value so the Raps don't just get junk in return. Babcock is handling things the right way --- Anyways, on Vinces alleged comments, I find it ridiculious. When did he become bigger than the Raps GM and Head office, so that he can choose to not particpate in training camp? His contract says he has to report training camp. He might of not predicted this situation back when he signed the contract, but he has no right to do this at all. Even players like Shaq don't have the right to do this, but atleast he's been playing like a superstar over the past 12 seasons.
What a baby. Just play. Him doing this is doing him absolutely no good. It's making his trade value drop and it's going to give him a bad rep in the league with his attitude. So, just quit being a little baby, get your butt on the court, and do something. Sitting there and being a little baby about this entire situation isn't going to do you any good, especially if he doesn't have a no trade clause. Cause then, they could just shaft him off and he would have no control over it, and right now, if I were Babcock, that's what I'd be doing.
god he is so wack bobcock hurry up and trade him but if we dont trade him and he doesnt play thats alot of money we saved lol
If Vince chooses not to play, does the Raptors management get to take all that money away from his contract and use it to do things like sign free agents?
..sorry if i misread but vince never said hes not going to report to training camp....? it was just questions raised by the media ... but if he does not report to training camp....wow...then he would turn from my fav player to my hated player...bc now hes being a big baby...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting undefined_playa:</div><div class="quote_post">If Vince chooses not to play, does the Raptors management get to take all that money away from his contract and use it to do things like sign free agents?</div> No, they don't. If Vince chooses not to participate in Training Camp there'll be a heafty fine from the Raptors, and likley from the league offices as well. However, once the season starts, and Carter still chooses not to play, Raptors have the right not to pay him. Carter will earn 12.6 million this season, but for every game he chooses to sit out (not injured or anything that prevents him from playing), he'll lose 153,471$! So if he decides to sit out the whole season, our managment will save 12.6 million, but we can't sepnd them on free agents because he'll still be under our cap.
Who the hell does Carter think he is? Does George Bush attack Canada just because he feels like it? Carter has a job to be a basketball player and like Babcock said, it is his responsibility to report to his job. I hate school, but I have to go. It's sad how supposedly "mature" superstars making millions are not even as mature as us teenagers.

I'm disappointed in Carter. I thought he was one of the last decent people who are stars in the NBA. Jesus, did he forget everything he learned from Dean Smith? Quite simply, you should not make trade demands or discuss being traded while under contract. Bottom line, you do your job and take care of such issues with the management in private. That's it, no screwing around on TV or whatever.
if vince does choose to holdout than no1 would want him, plus hell get more miserable not playing for four years and his skill will slowly diminish because no1 wud want a player who holdsout just so he could b traded
^hes got enough money to spend the rest of his life on...i mean he has like over 10 million dollars already...some ppl can try and won't make 1 million in their entire lives. athletes r overpaid :/
