<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Despite his extraordinary leaping ability, Shawn Marion has a tendency to fly under the radar, leading some in the world of basketball to call him underrated. TNT's Kenny Smith likes to refer to Marion as "The Matrix," based on his other-worldly athletic talents. NBA.com thinks he's pretty average, as in Mr. Average 2004-05, based on the results of this year's NBA Roster Survey. Marion, an All-Star in 2003, had all the necessary ingredients, standing 6-7 -- the league average is 6-7.26 -- and weighing 228 (224.29). He'll celebrate his 27th birthday (27.03) in June and last year completed his fifth season in the NBA (4.61). Others came close, among them, Vince Carter, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant and Shane Battier, but none was more average than Marion. Marion's victory breaks Matt Harpring's two-year stranglehold on the award.</div> This is all determined by the Average Age, Height, Weight, Years of Experience among other categories. Interesting fact. I think a couple of years ago Darvin Ham was Mr.Average or Corliss Williamson was. If you want to find out more about the other categories, just go here and click on the categories.
I think its interesting that average age is a little higher than it was in the mid 80s. A lot of people say the poor quality of play is due to players being younger and less experienced on the court. But apparently there's just as many really old players as younger players.
I think Marion is an above average player, I think a Olympic and All-Star selection was jumping the gun a tad bit on him.
lol great site...Yao Mng and Jahidi White could together eat their teamates Andre barret and Brevin Knight And wow after the years of Malone, Stockton and hornecek it has taken 5 years from the Jazz to go from the most experienced and oldest to the least and one of the youngest And how is Atlanta 4th in experience while dressing 4 rookies...Kevin Willis thats how..like Charles Barkley once said when a 40something year old Moses Malone entered the Sixers locker rooom "the average age in here just went up 5 years" lol And wow...Oak Hill academy has more NBA players (3) than Gonzaga, Illinois, Louisville, Marquette, Colorado, Miami, Ohio State, Tennesse, Wisconsin lol and China, Russia and other huge countries I also love how Kevin Willis is 2.3 times the age of Andries Biedrins
Hes doing a great job with my fantasy leagues> I have him in both. he puts up great numbers and pulls down alot of boards too.
I still can't believe Boykins is 130 lbs and he can somehow bench 300+ lbs .... that's freakin' incredible...
marion's a pretty good player its just that the suns have always been an average team thats all about to change this season though ...
