The Orlando Magic, who have the best record in the Eastern Conference, will be without the services of backup center/forward Tony Battie for tonight's game against the Denver Nuggets. The NBA suspended Battie after it determined that his foul against Memphis Grizzlies forward Pau Gasol Saturday was considered a Flagrant II violation. Battie was ejected early from the game for throwing an elbow at Gasol. A Flagrant II violation warrants an automatic suspension. This is really ot good for the team Battie does not fill up the stat sheet, but is a locker room leader that will be a big lose for the team. He also would have given us someone else to toss at the Nuggets very deep front line today, but with him out we will have to play Cato extended minutes tonight. Which in someways is good and some not it gives him more chance to continue to do what he has been doing, but it along with the travel in between tomorrows game may wear down Cato faster than normal. I wonder if we will take off Andrew declerq from the injured reserve to take his place in the lineup tonight...
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Deadlock:</div><div class="quote_post">Nice to see another former Cavs member sucking lol.</div> SUCKING? Please by all means elaborate on your definition of sucking? He has been, and will continue to be a big part of this team, andf a big leader in the locker room for us.Please tell me how he is sucking because he was suspended for one gam, because of flagerent fouls? So if Lebron was suspended a game because of a few stupid fouls I guess to you he would suck now wouldnt he? He has actually been a big key in our defense when we are in tight games he and Cato really defend the inside of the paint for us.
Averaging 3.6 points per game. He is doing worse then last year... bottom line. Yea he might be a good role model for you guys in the locker room but you need him to also produce. LeBron will never suck

LeBron will never suck</div> We do not need him to produce in the role of scorer we brought him in basically as a locker room leader, and a older guy to help Dwight develope. he has done those things so I do not know how you can consider him sucking he has filled the role asked of him by the team. The team does not want him to be a double digit scoring force off the bench when they have players like Hedo, Francis, Mobely, Hill, Sevenson, and others who can put the ball in the hoop. They jus tneed him to do what is asked of him, and he does that and the Magic record proves that.
Deadlock you clearly have no concept of a team, and to you a player is only as good as his PPG stat on NBA.com. We have Battie coming off the bench to help with the D, we dont put him in to pick up points, we simply dont need it (Francis, Mobley, Hill, Hedo all do that in big style, + others over 10 its fine). We need him in the D to keep the lane shut up with Cato or Howard. Furthermore, as Pureskillz says, he does alot to help develop the locker room mentality. As for "LeBron will never suck", thats a bit of a bold statement, as you can never tell what will happen to a player. Career ending injury? People start to counter his game? Traded off to another team and doesnt fit in? Lets hope that none of these happen and he carries on developing his game and making the NBA exciting, but dont come in here with pre-school arguments and comments, since the majority here want adult debate with actual thought and intelligence.

I bet this Deadlock guy is a 9 year old who watches ESPNEWS once a week and thinks he knows his sports.
His FG% is down 10%.. FT down 16%.. Turning it over more. His defense is about the same as last year.. So like I said to start off with he is not playing as good as he was for the Cavs.

A player usually takes time to get in a rythem especially one who has adjusted to a new team, new purpose, and new role like Battie is doing.

Come back at his 50th game this season and we will compare.
I understand Battie is a good player.. Hell I would drop Diop/S. Williams and take him as the backup center. But hey.. that how it is. I'm just saying that every player the cavs got rid of in the off season is not playing as well.
Can't believe this guy was voted in the JustBBall Rookie Team? <div class="quote_poster">Quoting MagicFan3:</div><div class="quote_post">Fine belive what you want. Us Magic fans obviously can't win this argument.</div> No, obviously we can't. It seems that he is disappointed that the Cavs lost Boozer and had to give up Battie to get Gooden, a good replacement for Boozer but reading what he wrote here, I believe in his eyes Boozer was last year better than Gooden is now, and he probably checked Boozers No. on nba.com and saw that he has a much higher PPG. Anyway, I'm happy that we have Battie, even though we had to give up Gooden for him, a good player but would have been sitting on the bench behind Dwight.
This is the tail end of Battie's career where he is more valuable as a coach type player than an actual stats filler. He is a solid player/teammate who is glue for this team. I must agree (and I rarely harp on any particular posters), deadlock doesn't understand enough about the game to make such judgemental calls. IMO
