Senegal's Diouf retires from international football

DAKAR (AFP) - Senegal captain El Hadji Diouf on Monday blamed an administration crisis blighting the national team for his decision to retire from international football.

"I maintain my decision to pull out of the team. I am not going to change my mind," the striker said in an interview with the RFM radio station.

He said he had been pushed to taking such a drastic decision by the country's sports administrators he accused of being disorganised and not having enough consideration for the players.

He said some of his Senegal teammates were forced to pay their own travel expenses and had difficulty getting bonuses for friendly games.

"Too much, it's too much. There are certain things that have to be cleared," said the Bolton forward, adding the decision he took would not signal the end of the world for him.

His decision comes less than a week to an international friendly with Guinea ahead of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
