Smith earned second team all-state honors as a junior and is the second ranked QB from Florida behind Georgia-commit, Aaron Murray. He threw for 1,597 yards and 21 touchdowns last year. In terms of his recruitment, he has a top five of Auburn, Boston College, Flordia State, LSU, and Michigan.
Smith is an explosive athlete who can beat the defense with both his legs and his arm. He has above average footwork and possesses good pocket presence. He does throw a very good ball with little wasted motion, but his delivery looks somewhat awkward. He has good vision downfield and can throw on the run. Not the fastest of the dual-threat QB's, but is still very dangerous on the ground.
