Who here thinks the Yankees are going to end the season as the bottom team in the AL East? I don't know if they'll be worse than Baltimore, but they definitely won't pass Tampa Bay and Boston. Why the hell do the Yankees think they can win with that pitching? Mussina and Pettite are older than dirt, Wang is good, Hughes and Kennedy are too young for the majors (look at how Jeremy Bonderman's career started)...That's their problem, IMO.
amazing thing is the Jays haven't hit anything all year and are still .500, and if the offense picks up, they'll get up there yanks are in trouble... for now
What I find funny is...last year when they sucked...you heard rumblings out of NY that the Boss was unhappy, that changes were coming, that Torre was done for, etc... This year, nothing..it's like they accept that they suck.
I'm not ready for that yet. People said the same last year. I don't think the Yankees will make the playoffs. IMO, no matter what Hank says, this is a rebuilding year. A pitching core of Wang, Joba, Phil, and Kennedy, along with Betances, Brackman, or Sanchez. is nothing to laugh at, and surely not worth trading away for Santana. Both Andy and Moose have surprised me. Who would have thought Moose would learn to pitch again? I certainly didn't,
They've had trouble with the Rays even before the Rays started playing so well this year. The Red Sox are clearly a better team. I don't think they're going to make the playoffs at this point, but they will finish in third, if not second. There's no way they are going to fire Girardi after one year, but I could see Cashman getting the boot. Even if they continue to have a down year they will still be a favorite next year when they get a few contracts off the books and make a huge splash (or two) in free agency. Yankees fans finally know what it feels like to place trust in young pitchers and have it not work out.
Ehem. It's not just that they've been winning, it's that they've been doing it in a great variety of ways. A great come from behind, a pitchers duel, 2 blow outs.
