Maxwell 2,024 yards and 18 touchdowns his junior year while leading his team to the state championship game. He gave up 7 interceptions on the season. He committed to the Spartans on March 3, 2008.
Maxwell has a nice frame with room to add more weight in his final year in high school. Has good pocket presence and avoids the rush fairly well. Footwork is decent and can throw on the run. He excels in the short passing game, though he does have the arm strength to deliver the ball downfield. Delivery is smooth and quick, but sometimes inconsistent. Can make some plays with his feet when the pocket collapses, but won't win many foot races. Worked mainly out of the shotgun in high school. While Maxwell doesn't "wow" you in most most aspects of the game, he rarely makes a mistake and should be a solid college quarterback.
