Doubt it, his stock is going nowhere but up. I don't know if he'll even make it to 21.

It's a travishamockery that Speights could go over him.

That would be the extreme upside. I would say realistically he projects more closely to Jason Maxiel, Carl Landry, Brandon Bass etc. Hes only 19 years old so its hard to say how his offense will develop but he does remind me a lot of Jason Maxiel because hes undersized but extremely explosive, very physical, lots of tenacity and grit. I think potentially hes even better than these guys because he was so good as a freshman. I doubt he'll ever be a 20/10 all-star type but I think he could be a very good role player, solid starter even.

All three of those guys need to play extremely physical to make up for their lack of ideal height from the PF position, while Hickson has good height.
I think he'll be better than all 3 of those, because he still plays with that physicality and has a great frame.
I assume when talking about upside we are talking best case scenario, which is why I said Brand.

Hicksons offensive game is more evolved right now than Maxiell's.

Hickson does not have good height. Hes listed at 6'9 which isn't ideal as is but he looks shorter than that. Hes probably 6'7 or 6'8. As for comparing him to Elton Brand, yeah he could be Elton Brand but chances of that are extremely thin. Its like saying Brook Lopez' upside is Tim Duncan- yeah it could theoretically happen but chances of that happening are beyond miniscule (unless you're talking to o.i.atl).

Hickson's only 19, a freshman. He has untapped potential.
Even if Hickson is 6-8, he's still taller than any of those 3. 6-8 @ PF isn't undersized these days.

Bottom line is those 3 are undersized @ the 4, and Hickson isn't.

If we're talking about how his height will play out in the NBA, I think you also have to mention wingspan. Almost all of those short PF's have long arms that help them overcome their disadvantage. Anybody know Hickson's?

DX lists wingspan as one of his strengths.

Unfortunately he wasn't on the measurement list out of Orlando.

Does he have a jumper? Isn't that one of Elton Brand's strengths?

He needs to work on the baseline portion of his game. He's more comfortable in the high post, and can hit the elbow jumper with regularity, but the mid range baseline game needs to be worked on. Perhaps Christ Gatling can help him?

I'm liking this guy. He's got a great post game.

Majority (if not all) of big man highlights I see are them cutting to the basket and dunking. This guy can catch in the post with his back to the basket and create a shot, which is something the Nets need.
We have slashing bigs in Swift, Williams and Boone. We have a shooting big in Krstic.

I think there's a great chance for him to be there at #21.

Some team might like Speights better and give him a promise, since there's a chance he could go back to school.

Nobody thinks Hickson is going back to NC State.
