According to Jason Quick (O-Live chat).

Not good news. Does KP wait this out or does he find a temporary replacement?

Personally, I'd like to see Pippen brought in, specifically for Batum.

Kaleb Canales has been filling in as an assistant coach. I'm not sure if he is officially considered an assistant or not. He has been the team's video coordinator for the past few seasons. He's great. Out there working with the guys on game day as early as 4:00. Same way Eric Spolstra broke into the league.

During his last year in Chicago he was quoted saying he wants to get into coaching. His basketball knowledge and basketball IQ, it only makes sense to bring him in. Batum would learn so much from a player like Pip-Nasty.

Brad Weinberg (sp?) at the Meet&Greet called Kaleb an assistant coach, and iirc that was the title on his office plate.

I have a few questions about Pippen's character (rumors about his times with Bonzi and Sheed while here) and leadership abilities...

The guy I'd want brought in is AC Green, he's a guy that worked hard, was very intense, a superb defender, high basketball IQ, went to OSU, very high character, it just makes sense if you ask me.

Sorry to hear about Mo. I hope he gets better soon. I know he had a tough guy, enforcer image as a player, but he's a nice guy and a class act. I wish him the best.

Im not sure if this is true but I heard AC Green was a little over the top in his Christianity, he was described as extreme. That said I do know he does a lot of great things in the community but he may not be the right person for this team if he would try to push his views on the players at all times.

What assistant coaches press their religious views on players? Religion and basketball have nothing to do with each other.

of course we all want the best for Mo. As for possible replacements, I'm for letting KP make the decision on who to select as he seems to have a better track record then most on this board. Maybe it should be Kaleb. Not having met (let alone known) anyone who might be considered, really how should I know?

Well AC has shown that he doesn't differentiate between work and religion in the past and the two are a mixed world, that said maybe the person who told me about AC just had a bad experience and he doesn't preach to everyone around him. I just feel that AC could do more good if he stayed in his current job of doing community work and working with his organizations. Also I disagree with the Pippen sentiment that he would necessarily good for the team. Not all good players make good coaches, if Pippen is someone the organization trusts to be a good role model and not a distraction then by all means bring him in. Many times as fans what we imagine our hero's to be and who they truly are as people are different things.

I think if we're looking for someone to replace Luke temporarily, we should look no farther than his best friend. Look at Bill Walton's game and then look at applying that game over Greg Oden's physical gifts. We've seen what Kareem did for Bynum; imagine what Big Bill could do for GO.

I would love that. I'm not sure how things were left between Paul Allen and Pip. There seemed to be some friction. Anyone else remember it that way?

I don't know about you, but when BRoy raised up for that last second shot against the Rockets, I said, "Please GOD get in the bucket!" Nothin' but net, HCP said, "AMEN"!
