http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allst...lumnist=adande_ja&page=All-Star-trades-090215 Chris Paul and Brandon Roy on the Trail Blazers Precedent: Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in "Wedding Crashers" Why it should happen: A pairing that you never spent time dreaming up, but one that could turn out to work surprisingly well. Truth is, I didn't think about it until Brandon Roy suggested it. (Chris Paul actually wished for Tim Duncan, but Roy had first crack.) The Blazers are always concerned about asking Roy to do too much, and anytime they can find someone to bring up the ball they're happy to relieve him of those duties. So why not get the league's top point guard to bring up the ball and initiate the offense? All Roy would have to do was go to his favorite spots and stand there. Chris Paul and Brandon Roy could form the league's best backcourt. "[Paul] does a great job of getting guys easy shots, something I don't come across a lot now," said Roy, the focal point of every opponent's defense. When you think of Roy you think of him pulling up and hitting jumpers with a hand in his face, or driving through the lane, spinning and shooting. The problem with the Hornets is things usually go sour when Paul goes out of the game. Roy might not be a pure point guard like Paul, but he's a guy who can handle the ball and make good decisions -- always. So Roy with the ball would become the Ultimate Plan B. "I like to create," Roy said. "I think you've got to have two guys who can create, especially to be good. I think we could fit." How it could happen: The word around the league is the Hornets are already trying to shed salaries to get below the luxury tax next season. Perhaps they get so desperate they take the ultimate plunge, throwing Paul in the mix to entice someone to take on Peja Stojakovic's contract. The deep-pocketed Blazers bite and send LaMarcus Aldridge plus the expiring contracts of Raef LaFrentz, Channing Frye and Shavlik Randolph to the Big Easy for Paul. THIS THOUGHT MAKES ME SMILE =) hehe Roy wants CP3
I would shed everybody and anybody on this roster not named Brandon Roy and Greg Oden to get this deal done. On the other hand if the Hornets really were this fucking foolish they'd lose every single fan they've ever had, and the collapse created by their franchise would likely cause a wormhole to erupt right under the city of New Orleans, finishing the job Katrina started.
OMG, do not even get my hopes up..the hornets would have to be in some serious financial trouble for this to happen though.
Article Translation: JA Adande found out about SportsTwo and wrote this just to come back here and watch us monkeys go crazy.
If by some act of God this was done, we would have to deal webster, diogu, picks, sergio, etc for a decent big man
That's a ridiculously low price to pay for getting CP3 and Peja. No way it happens but how sick would this team be???
Nope. That won't happen. I hate to say never, but Paul is the best player in basketball outside of James and is currently on track to be one of the few greatest point guards in NBA history, in the Magic Johnson / Oscar Robertson class. This isn't like shedding Amare Stoudemire. This is almost equivalent to claiming the Cavs might trade James to get someone to take a big contract off their hands. Would never happen.
I don't see why they'd need Aldridge back in that deal. They already have an all-star PF. My version of this fantasy goes CP3, Peja, and Tyson Chandler for two of our 3 current PGs (u-pick), Joel, RLEC, IDEC, and CFEC (Raef, Diogu, Frye). Chandler and Joel are swapped to save the Hornets another $6 million/year. Or, if they also want an SF to replace Peja, then give them their choice of those instead of Frye. This trade saves NO something like $50 million over the next two years. barfo
Haha. I like this. So Portland gives up, at most, Bayless and Przybilla (among important players) for Paul, Stojakovic and Chandler. I hate to lose Bayless, though.
trading paul would cost them more than his salary in lost ticket sales. still it could happen, though - in 2012.
It's a sacrifice that must be made. I think Chris Paul could be good enough to step in and replace Bayless, in time. barfo
Edit: I suggest just skipping past this post. KME There's only one way this trade happens and that is by trading them Oden. I'm 110% behind Oden, but if you have Amare at center you really have to think about that trade... PG: CP3/Blake SG: Roy/Rudy SF: Batum/Durant PF: Aldridge C: Amare
Maybe they can share RLEC. Or, New Orleans can have RLEC and Phoenix can have CFEC, IDEC, a first round pick and Portland can buy back the pick AND Phoenix's own first round pick for $3 million each. Portland can also buy New Orleans' pick for $3 million if that will sweeten the deal for the Hornets. Paul Allen's money for all!
while we're at it we can mix and match any of diogu webster outlaw sergio bayless blake koponen picks cash watever so we can do oklahoma city a favor in return for a kevin durant we would be weak at the 4 but combining the 06 07 08 rookie of the years would be nice 1 cp3 2 Roy 3 Durant 4 ? 5 Oden that young starting 5 will compensate inexperience pritchslapping at its best
I would give them: Bayless, Sergio, Rudy, Batum, (Sill a lot a French down in the Quarters) Frye and Raef and our #1 and not think twice. That is a lot of young talent for NO to consider.
