When did this guy start? Right when the wave came back? I sat next to the section where it started last night and saw the guy, he has a Blazers shirt that says Wave Man and everything.. has this guy always been there?

I was in 313 last night.. and it was to my left.. so I think that would have been 312.

Does anyone else think doing the wave again is incredibly stupid?

Haha, yeah the "Wave Man" was between sections 313 and 314, I being a STH in the later. Its kinda annoying starting it, but I must say that it is awfully rewarding watching that thing go round after its self sustaining. Whats even more cool to me though is watching the lower bowl get into it... that thing gets going... going fast, mainly cause of the smaller circumference but still, that thing is scary cool. Lets "Wave" our postseason opponents out into the Willamette river this season instead of breaking out the broom! :)

I thought it was lame 20 years ago....

That being said, there is something cool about bringing back an old trend. We're the first of the "new wave". Now if other teams fans started to copy us, I'd consider that lame. It's cool to be unique I think.

It was pretty cool at outdoor Grateful Dead concerts back in the day, but it might have been the mushrooms. And all the tie-dye. Dunno . . .

Shrug. Certainly not more stupid than spending a lot of time watching a bunch of millionaires putting an
orange ball into a round hoop, or dancing or clapping or letting your emotional well being be dependent on
said millionaires. Of course, those things are probably less stupid than wasting countless hours TALKING
about said millionaires on the internet, but that is the lay of the land, that's where we at...

    Go Blazers!!!

Yes! But here is why it is cool when we have done it this year. We have started doing it because we have been blowing the shit out of teams and do it in the 4th quarter when up by at least 20. Its like saying to the road team you suck so bad that we would rather do the wave than watch you get trounced by our Blazers!

    Definitely.

Also, as a dad I'd love to take my sons to a game when they're a little older, and I know the wave is something that they'd get a huge kick out of.

At least the wave is a spontaneous event brought about by the fans. It's gimmicky crap like the t-shirt cannons and the stupid music that drives me nuts. But I guess my kids will probably like those too....

i'm a wsu alum and despise the wave and hate when i'm at any sporting event where it gets started. but, since you never see it done at NBA games, and it started when we were crushing SA at home, i'm ok with it when we are humiliating an opponent at home. to me it's more of a mocking the road team in that they aren't giving us a show, so we'll entertain ourselves for a few minutes. that said, i'm in section 301 and you will NEVER see me participating in any wave.

We need to get soccer chants going in the RG. Now that would be sweet.
